that' s on 29 may 2020, last day of the week. the market plunged, those who grab sci then probably would have sold. now probably most entered when sci is about $1.90 seil ipo is highly anticipated |

The brave gets rewarded as they bought without knowing whether demerger will be suceesful Once demerger was confirmed, too late for those who have no courage.. Is it still worth going in now when SCI is $1.36? My take is yes.. So if you have no courage to buy it now, dont be envious of others who buy SCI now when it hits $1.76.

Actually one shouldn't be bothered about the share price, unless you are contra trading. This one's a long time play for 1-2 years.
But i can understand with such a trading surge, retail traders will want to jump on the bandwagon.

To truly unlock the full value of Sembcorp Industries share price, the management must continue its effort in recycle capital through its energy and urban assets. And one of the major catalysts for Sembcorp Industries share price is the listing of the India business unit, Sembcorp Energy India Ltd (SEIL). imho demerger of sci and scm is moving in the right direction |

Prior to 2020, SCM had dragged down SCI&rsquo s financial performances for years because of the ailing oil and gas sector. This resulted in SCM borrowing $2 billion of subordinated loan from SCI in June 2019. The latest development should enable Sembcorp Industries share price to see light at end of tunnel as the debt levels will be significantly reduced and the proposed demerger will lead to increase in strategic focus. On 18 August 2020, PUB and Sembcorp Industries announced the commencement of construction of the 60 megawatt-peak (MWp) floating solar photovoltaic (PV) system on Tengeh Reservoir. Then on 17 August 2020, Sembcorp Industries announced its first integrated urban development in Myanmar. These strategic projects would likely to lead to increasing Sembcorp Industries share price in the coming months. |

On a separate note, does anyone know much about the track record of our new incoming CEO: Wong Kim Yin (Group CEO, SP Group)? Not so much on the news, which is old news. But more on if he has a stable track record as a leader, the last thing I want is a Paper General 
From the BusinessTimes, MON, MAR 16, 2020 - 7:26 PM SEMBCORP Industries will be appointing a new group president and chief executive officer (CEO) to take over from Neil McGregor, who will retire on June 30, said the firm in a statement on Monday. Wong Kim Yin, CEO of leading utilities provider SP Group, will assume Mr McGregor' s role from July 1, 2020. Mr Wong has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector and in investment management. Formerly the senior managing director of investments at Temasek International, he was responsible for investments in various sectors, including the energy, transportation and industrial clusters. Prior to Temasek, he worked for The AES Corporation, a power company listed on the New York Stock Exchange. He is also the chairman of SkillsFuture Singapore, a government agency under the Ministry of Education. It' s nice to see such great optimism of the India IPO (If it ever happens), but I should express some caution on the expectations vs realities of subsidiary IPO Listings. To the best of my memory, two of our SGX Stocks this year had subsidiary IPO listings:
I too hope that this upcoming IPO in India helps to boost value to SCI, but I remain cautious of expectations to the SharePrice of SCI. Maybe its because this is SGX, whereas in other countries stock exchange the parent company' s shares will surge at least 10x.

My layman way of understanding is, and I stand corrected because this is not my profession, that as long as SCI remains the majority shareholder it can do consolidation as a group. Hence the India net asset will still be entered as 100%. So no change in sci group's original NAV.
But whatever value sci raises from this IPO goes to sci's asset, be it as cash or debt paring down. Either way sci's nav will go up accordingly.
If any part of this money raised is paid to the sci sh as a special dividend, then sci's new NAV will just decrease accordingly, just like in the smm demerger exercise.
