The government support part is true. Temesk is doing NS, making sure SIA doesnt bankrupt. But they are doing this via capital inject and under writing these capital injections. In so doing they are diluting minority share owners ownership. it doesnt change the fact that SIA is bleeding everyday and the capital injection is just to make sure there is enough capital so that the bleeding can happen without causing bankruptcy. So buying SIA bond makes sense. Becasue bankrupty wont happen. Stock purchase have to wait,

All time low for SIA was $2.31 in 30 June 1986.
All medium to long term technicals already broken down and as long civid 29 dows not dissipate, no recovery in anyline stocks anytime soon. Seems Covid 19 is mirroring Spanish Flu which which started in February 1918 and dissipated globally in April 2020. In US, minimum 657K deaths reported. In US, deaths already more than 150K and still climbing and will be worse into fall and wintering period towards year end. Vaccines take time to be approved and so far early release probably 1st half next year. I have already cut lossess on my vested interest at 3.65 last week. To those mkt particpants who think SIA is low enough to buy, I wish them good luck because there are other potential shares to make money from in the shares mkt. Why do you think the share guru, Warren Buffet cut lossess on all his airline stocks having lost US$54 Billion? Think? Because he feels there are other potential stocks to buy. I can only suggest if any of you are interested in a medium term strategy to hold until 1st half June 2021, is Sri Trang Agro which is extremely undervalued as this company is a rubber and gloves play company. STA for 1st quarters will enjoy 100% earnings from their gloves division and 56% thereafter from spinning off to STGT, their gloves division from 3rd quarters earnings report thereafter. My outperform recommendation is to buy on Monday Thai Baht any price below 25.25 with a target objective of 73 Baht within 1st half June 2021, medium term. STA has spun off its gloves division with an IPO on 2 July 2020 with the new company STGT which has book orders until 1st half June 2021 reflecting strong demand from the impact of covid 19. 2nd quarters result is expected to exceed 1st quarter results of 845 Million Baht on results release on 14 August with above 1.2 Billion Baht potential profits. Alternatively you buy STA Sing which closed at $1.31 Sing on Thursday with a TP within 1st half June 2021 at $3.22 basis Fibonacci Extension of 1.618%. As an international rubber dealer with vested interest in STA, I can say that the rubber market is poised for a basing out this year with TSR 20 Socom being well supported at $1060 per ton. Please do your due diligence accordingly. Lets HUAT together. |

Few things to note. Vaccine even if available does not mean there will be enough for everyone in Singapore and enough for everyone in the world. It will take a while for people to have access to vaccines. Give it the end of this year the first commercial vaccine comes out in US. US will cover their own people first. China vaccine I doubt anyone dare to use. Until at least 60% to 70% of SIA' s usual clients are vaccinated, the business will not return to normal. This won' t happen until end of 2021. Event SIA' s own forecast says their load factor will be at 50% for the next 2 years, this means this company will bleed for the next 2 years. If it is not as bad as I said above, they wouldn' t have cut salary and ask people to retire earlier. The last AGM approved not just the right issue but also the right for the management to call for more capital. Last point, after air travel reduced to 0, companies have adapted to working remotely, there might be less business travel going forward. So there could be a fundamental change in how people work on a perm basis. So personally I won' t touch SIA for now.

Alot of vaccine are in phase three trials. We should be getting an interim report in a few months. Current results are promising. We should see some government support in our airline sector Many open shorts at 3.41 and 3.42 and looking at covering at 3.29 and below Last massive selling on 30 July 2020 was mainly due to CIMB who changed from accumulate to hold. Other major Banks have already sold at higher levels Monday' s selling will only be forced selling - not much looking as the negativity in recent months. There should not be huge positions 30 July 2020 trades was a false bear breakout. If Monday opens at 3.50, this is confirmed. If opens lower, we looking at new lows around 3.28 and closing higher on short coverage Cheers

Personal call, don' t buy SIA even at 3 dollars. There will be for sure another round of capital call or rights issue. The current situation will mean they will not be profitable this year. Neither will they be profitable until the end of next year. SIA needs a load factor of 70% to be profitable. Not to mention business travelers who paid for the business and first-class are not even flying now. |

We should go AGM and ask them to sack half the pilot and cabin crew. Hire again when Covid is over. They will still be sitting at home and waiting for the phone to ring.

https://www.executivetraveller.com/n...fleet-reviewed Future of Singapore Airlines' A380 in limbo as network, fleet reviewed Quote:In an effort to right-size itself to suit the long years ahead, the company said " we are reviewing the potential shape and size of our network over the longer term given COVID-19 and its impact on our passenger traffic and revenue, which will provide better clarity on the fleet size and mix that the group will need." Some of this will hinge on  delaying the delivery of new aircraft " to reduce near-term cash outflows,"   the airline said. " We have reached an agreement with Airbus on some of these matters and discussions with Boeing are ongoing. This will help to moderate fleet growth in the near term." Singapore Airlines is believed to have some 90 jets on order, compared to around 120 already in its fleet, with another 60 orders shared between SilkAir and ScootQuote:But this still leaves a superjumbo-sized question mark hanging over the Airbus A380. All 19 of the airline' s double-decker juggernauts have been grounded since March, with 13 parked at Changi Airport while six &ndash a mix of older and newer versions &ndash now reside at the longer-term Asia Pacific Aircraft Storage facility in Alice Springs,  where the arid climate and low humidity helps keep aircraft in top condition until they' re ready to fly again. Singapore Airlines has already flagged that its fleet review " is likely to lead to a  material impairment of the carrying values of older generation aircraft, particularly the A380 aircraft which would account for approximately $1 billion." |

Many other industries and companies either retrench, furlough or give deep pay cuts to their staff. These pilots are really got the cheek to reject or stop this pay cut exercise which is meant to save SIA which is definitely badly hit most of all by this crisis. I agree it is mainly the foreign pilots who are behind this.

Are the pilots flying frequently now? They know company already lost 1 billion and they don't take pay cut. Should just fire them if they don't comply.
CEO should take responsibility for the losses in fuel hedges. Cut 80% pay is reasonable. Trade with shareholders interest and DYODD |

In 1980, Lee Kuan Yew told SIA pilots' union he was prepared to ground airline & start over November 16, 05:43 PM `They know that I' m prepared to ground the airline. They know that I can get the airline going again without them.' " I can tell you that when I met the SIA pilots, I didn' t meet them on TV, I met them face-to-face. Five feet across the table so they can see me, and see whether I' m still vigorous, able to campaign and take them on. Whether it' s worth taking me on. And I offered them two choices. Either you stop this intimidation, which is what it was, bringing SIA right down. Disrupting services, ruining its reputation. Millions of dollars worth of advertisements and sales ruined within a matter of two weeks. I gave them a choice. Continue this and I will by every means at my disposal teach you and get the people of Singapore to help me teach you a lesson you won' t forget. And I' m prepared to start all over again or stop it! Get back to work, restore discipline, then argue your case. Took them 65 minutes and they decided ok it isn' t worth the fight. Why? Because they know they' ll lose. They know that I' m prepared to ground the airline. They know that I can get the airline going again without them. And let there be no mistakes about it. Whoever governs Singapore must have that iron in him. Or give it up. This is not a game of cards. This is your life and mine. I spent a whole lifetime building this. And as long as I' m in charge, nobody' s going to knock it down." And with that, the matter with SIA was resolved. Video: https://youtu.be/ytMXSLeqFMY |

No one hedges up for 5 yrs. If the intention is really to protect volatile movements, hedges is typically 1yr for airlines. At most 2yrs. But SIA hedge till 2023? Joke right? Looks more like betting
So SIA is not doing hedging. More than betting. When oil prices go up, they can record profits also. The mtgm is betting like in casinos. But lose never mind, temasek (each citizens) will rescue |

We cannot deny that SIA fuel hedge is too excessive. Hedging up to 50% projected demand and such a long duration. Its not common. Analysts were surprised. Its greed. CEO wants to make more profits and want to get as much upside as possible. As for pandemic, people are warning for yrs. Even bill gates predicted. Go goggle.
Govt is not being accountable on use of public funds. Construction firms are going bust. People in other sectors are losing jobs. Aviation may be the sector that govt THINK is strategic but this doesnt mean govt can just throw money into ocean. And what if they got it wrong? Its not the first time the govt got their strategies wrong. Few yrs back, govt wanted to promote a certain industry(forget name of company). The MNC send people to US for training, then come back no jobs.. And if they get it wrong, nothing will happen to their salary. They only increase GST and taxes to make up for their mistakes. Those who are happy that ah gong throw money to support keppel, SMM, SIA etc need to know that in the end, its every citizen money and we NEED to top up back. Not a single cent come personally out from ho ching or lee pocket. They CAN afford to make mistakes and not be accountable And maybe GIC will start to report 30 yrs rolling performance annually. 🤣
