Actually Im confused, but what about this Circumstances where you&rsquo ll make money on the MCBs  alone  (ignoring what happens to your SIA stake): There are a few scenarios where you&rsquo ll make a profit: (1) SIA redeems the MCBs before they are converted (2) SIA allows the MCBs to convert into shares 10 years later  and  SIA&rsquo s share price is  significantly  higher  than S$2.68 at that point in time. To be clear, the price of S$2.68 is the price you&rsquo re effectively paying for SIA&rsquo s shares in the event of the MCBs&rsquo conversion. If SIA&rsquo s share price is around S$2.68 at the point of conversion, it&rsquo s very likely you&rsquo ll be losing money on the MCBs   if SIA&rsquo s share price is lower than S$2.68 at the point of conversion, you&rsquo ll be losing money on the MCBs. https:://www.thegoodinvestors.sg/making-financial-sense-of-singapore-airliness-massive-fundraising/

Singapore Airlines posts first annual net loss in 48-year history after COVID-19 cripples demand 14 May 2020 06:11PM(Updated:  14 May 2020 07:30PM) SINGAPORE:  National carrier Singapore Airlines on Thursday (May 14) reported the first annual net loss in its 48-year history after COVID-19 crippled travel demand, saying that it has set up an internal task force to review its operations and to prepare for when air travel recovers. In a filing to the Singapore Exchange, SIA Group reported a net loss of S$212 million for the 12 months ending  Mar 31, a reversal from the S$683 million profit in the previous year. It lost  S$732 million in January to March this year. In comparison, it made S$203 million net profit in the same period last year. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/singapore-airlines-sia-q4-full-year-results-covid-19-coronavirus-12732134 |

As I mentioned earlier, you may win big but lose small. Since you have already prepared to lose $500 to $1,000 when you did the execution, so I guess that you shouldn' t dealt with it too much. Worst come to worst, if you can afford it, you can take up the MCB by paying $10,000. Hence, you still have plan B.

Hi Greg.. you know as long as the mother share is below 4.8, the MCB should actually be zero. Theoretically it shldnt be going up. The rights will be more clear cut.

Yesterday someone bought 1 million SIA MCB R at the opening at $0.001 and sold them at $0.010 within a short time.  Once in his lifetime, he pocketed S$90k out of nothing.  He has enough cash to subscribe MCB, in case he has to hold R until 21 May.    But don' t expect this would happen again.  My thought is MCB R will be very hard to move in tandem with R or main share. I wish good luck for those bought at $0.002 and wish to cheong again to $0.019.  Bet within your ability to lose, in case this doesn' t happen, e.g. just put max $1k and if it doesn' t move up your lost is max $1k. Just forget about subscribing the MCB. If you go to a casino, you would easily lose that much too.  During COVID season, all casinos are closed. Fortunately, as the largest alternative " casino" , SGX is still opened for people to gamble. SGX is the only counter that cheong.  Welcome to the largest " casino" in Singapore.  :-)        |

This is the precise reason why existing shareholders should not subscribe to the rights and MCB as Temasek has stated that she will take up all of them even if there is no one subscribing the rights / MCB. Let Temasek spend billions on SIA, and not taking money from the general public. Let SIA bailout by the government.

There is a syndicate of big boys operating this rights issue. I believe it started on the ex rights when the price move from 4.2 to 5.04. We all know Temasek is supporting SIA, whatever price movement will definitely be ' controlled ' by them. Personally i dont think its wrong to naked short or CFD.. as long you profit from it. Theres a time for selling and buying.. if you study the price chart esp the monthly maybe you should be buying at 3.72 or rights to profit from the situation. Bear or Bull talk, everyone knows how to talk, when price was 3.7 after lunch, majority of the bears are out screaming that it will go to zero or $3 etc..

Actually u r partially right. I think as the deadline nears, it is more likely that the MCB goes to 0.001 or ZERO. On the other side, I spoke to my broker, she said actually she thinks 0.002 is a fair risk to take. because 0.002 is 0.2% when the MCB at the first semi annual it would 1.02@ which is 2% yield. So alot of funds/banks will want to buy into the MCB as a guaranteed interest spread of 2%-0.2% which is 1.98% so long as they can stump up the $$$. Anyway dont know how true. My shareholding is 1000 SGD worth which is VERY Lame. I will upodate the forum when i lose or make money. As of today 0.002, I lose 55 SGD (buy and sell commission) assuming I sell. I think it is a fair punt.

SIA posts S$732.4m in Q4 net loss as bad hedges worsen virus woes. Net asset value per share was S$7.86 as at March 31, down from S$11.22 as at March 31, 2019. Still worth so much? Because of the planes it owned? |

Based on the quantities, he has 500 existing SIA shares. With 2:3 ratio for rights, he is entitled 750 rights. With 295:100 ratio for MCB, he is entitled 1,475 MCB. Price of each right and MCB is $3 and $1 respectively. Using the above, he needs to pay $3 x 750 = $2,250  for the rights and $1 x 1,475 = $1,475 for the MCB. Do note that each instrument is independent of each other, i.e you can choose to only subscribe the rights and give up on the MCB, vice versa or subscribe both at the same time.

I believe this is the number of naked sell. However,  this number will also depend on whether you press " short sell" or  just " Sell"   when you short in the mornig..... If you press " sell" and then buy back in the afternoon, i doubt the system will be able to capture it.... Those shorted via CFD, SBL .... will not be reflected here. This is not reflecting the actual short qty ....
