Acu-Corona&trade 2.0 Test Kit Received Provisional Authorization from Singapore' s Health Sciences Authority WASHINGTON, April 7, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- American impact organization United Global Alliance (UNITED) announced a partnership with Singapore' s Acumen Research Laboratories to distribute its proprietary Acu-CoronaTM 2.0 test kit and to supply the test to international governments and healthcare organizations. The announcement was made by Bachir Diagne and Ali Diallo, General Partners at UNITED, and Dr. Siew Hwa ONG, founder and Chief Scientist at Acumen Research Laboratories. Acu-Corona&trade 2.0 is an open platform, in vitro qualitative diagnostic assay based on real-time reverse transcription and polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and that detects SARS-Cov-2 RNA in RNA samples extracted from patient specimens. The testing method received a Provisional Authorization from Singapore' s Health Sciences Authority and Acumen Research Laboratories intends to seek FDA certification in collaboration with UNITED. " The COVID-19 pandemic needs to be countered by effective testing to help in the medical efforts of diagnosis and treatment as well in implementing containment measures of contact tracing in the community and quarantine, where needed," said Dr. ONG. " We are very pleased to partner with Acumen Research Laboratories on the deployment of an immediate solution to address the pandemic crisis," said Diagne. " As an official reseller and authorized dealer of Acu-Corona&trade 2.0., UNITED is already in touch with multiple American organizations, agencies and international governments to provide them with effective and accurate diagnostic test kits. " Dr. Ong and her team have developed a very powerful testing method that needs to be shared at the global level," said Diallo. " The FDA certification process is the next natural step for further validation of the Acu-Corona&trade 2.0 diagnostic test kit and UNITED will fully support this process." The Acu-Corona&trade 2.0 consists of two kits, one containing an RT-PCR enzyme and nuclease-free water and another one containing some array plates with printed and dried RT-PCR primers, dual-labeled hydrolysis probes, and plate seals. The design is targeted at achieving high-throughput testing, reduced manual steps and cold-chain logistics, and overall robust results. Acumen Research Laboratories' Acu-Corona&trade 2.0. is part of UNITED' s collaborative response initiative to address the COVID-19 pandemic crisis with immediate innovation-based solutions. Q& M reclassifies S$0.0242 in special, final dividends into interim dividendWED, APR 15, 2020 - 8:55 AMQ& M Dental Group is reclassifying the special dividend and final dividend to be paid out to shareholders for the 2019 financial year into a second interim dividend. Doing so provides certainty to its dividend payment' s date as the mainboard-listed dental services group' s annual general meeting (AGM) date for FY2019 remains uncertain and is still being deliberated on, according to a regulatory update. An interim dividend only requires the board' s approval and does not require shareholders' approval, which is gathered at an AGM. The aggregate quantum of the second interim dividend will be S$0.0242, unchanged from the sum of the special dividend of S$0.02 per share and the final dividend of S$0.0042 per share. Q& M' s board is of the view that the interim dividend would not be prejudicial to shareholder interests. With the reclassification of the dividend, the record date will be April 27 and the payment date will now be May 13. The firm said that it had intended to distribute the special and final dividends to shareholders as soon as possible in order to provide some support for them amid economic uncertainty due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Q& M joins 2 Chinese companies to establish mask-making company amid shortage due to Covid-19 WED, MAR 11, 2020 - 10:40 PM
MAINBOARD-listed Q& M Dental Group is joining hands with two Chinese companies to establish a surgical mask-manufacturing company, the company said in an exchange filing on Wednesday evening.
It said it entered into a non-binding memorandum of understanding with Hubei Asihubao Living Supplies, a company that manufactures and sells Class 1 medical devices, and Guangzhou Pharmasen, a medical equipment wholesaler.
Under the proposed investment, all three companies will contribute funds to set up the joint venture company, with Aishubao contributing 70 per cent Pharmasen, 10 per cent and Q& M, 20 per cent.
The actual terms of the proposed investment and the respective investment amounts will be negotiated and agreed upon at the " definitive agreement stage" , Q& M said.
This agreement comes in the wake of a worldwide shortage of surgical masks, which saw subsequent price surges, due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Q& M said even though it has a " healthy stockpile" of surgical masks for its staff and employees, it decided to enter into this joint venture as a means to reduce its reliance on external manufacturers and safeguard the company against future supply shocks.
Q& M shares closed at S$0.46 on Wednesday, up two Singapore cents or 4.55 per cent from the previous day.
