Why? Let me guess. This is the first time the independent directors, auditors, etc, start to use their decades of experience to ask questions. So results must be revised. I noticed that results of companies under similar attacks usually begin to deteriorate subsequently.

The only hope to land suppprt to its shares - a bullish Dow, Bo Liao! If it waits till the 11th hr tomorrow, as granted by SGX, to announce its results, it does not speak well of this company. See the updated Marginable Securities List you provided ...(with effect from 1 May 2019) http://www.dbs.com.sg/iwov-resources/pdf/loan/secured-financing/share-financing/marginable_securities_list.pdf With BWL shares hitting record highs recently, taking out an SBLOC may seem like an easy way to get access to cash . You and the lender execute an SBLOC contract. The contract specifies the maximum amount you may borrow, and you agree to use your investment account assets as collateral. If the value of your securities declines to an amount where it is no longer sufficient to support your line of credit, you will receive a &ldquo maintenance call&rdquo notifying you that you must post additional collateral or repay the loan within a specified period . If you are unable to add additional collateral to your account or repay the loan with readily available cash, the firm can liquidate your securities and keep the cash to satisfy the maintenance call. Imagin what will happen if BWL price was $2.50 when you signed the contract.

Have lah! I have done that 25years ago. Normally not with the bank but with the finance company like Hong Leong Finance. Howver the finance company are selective on what share can be pleged. In the borrower interest it would be very unwise to plege share to raise money in order to buy more if it is not in the bull market. So nowadays very few shareholders plege their share as there has not been any significant bull run in SGX.

First time hear this that banks take shares as collateral. I only hear of property as collateral, never hear about shares, which is volatile and harder to quantify the value. Pls substantiate this with figures. Hope u didnt short the shares, or be prepared to grab to cover when trading resumes. Given the short positions, expect fierce short covering to ride the wave up. One good reason why resume trading after results is, in my humble opinion, the results must be good and the management does not want any unnecesarily further dumping of shares to affect its share prices. Remember company has share buy back at the 160-180 range recently. dyodd.

actually in the case of BW at this point in time, i see huge payables as positive. BR has also stated BW manufacture their pdts in USA/Korea. it likely implies BW is anticipating explosive demand(consistent with RHB' s reseach report issued earlier) this year, and has prepared massive orders. in fact, some pdts r currently out of stock. this year shd be good for BW, next and beyond, dunno liao.

interesting point, but I think BW is not available for share financing. https://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/loans/secured-financing/share-financing with almost all brokers imposing trading restriction(some much earlier this year), dun think any bank wld be keen to take BW shares as loan. furthermore, if u look at Top20, excluding D2 & HBC & nominee a/c(which can be more than 1 shareholder), the top individual holds less than 10 mil shares assuming he/she didn' t sell any since the last AR. moreover, D2 has always ensured they have exactly the same amt of shares so i dun think either of them will pledge any shares. it is still possible for margin call scenario to happen, but i think not likely.

I dont think it makes any sense to calculate any ratios until the financial reports can be certified and all allegations refuted with facts and evidence. I cant wait to see what happens on the 9th. I think the swing will be also like 3+5+3, unprecedented, either up or down. |
