PUB is running its own third deslination plant today:- http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/tuas-desalination-plant-water-singapore-pub-10477996 Slated to be completed in 2020, Marina East Desalination Plant and a fifth desalination plant at Jurong Island will bring the total daily water production in Singapore to 190mgd in two years&rsquo time. Desalination is definitely not Rocket Science and we do not need to depend on a single SME company.

Let creditors take over all aasets of Hyflux and fire sales to more capable people to run it . The present managemnt are not capable to run this company , nOL has no biz acument for bigger entity, small outfit is more suitable for her to manage. | ||||

SG can't be complacent over water. If the linggiu reservoir in JB and sg water catchment areas dry up due to severe drought one day, Tuaspring & Singspring (Our 4th tap using desalinated water) will be the only tap left to save us.
Heavy rain recently will make some of us complacent again. But a long and severe dought can still come back to bite us, even our neighbour, later.

Isn't there's a news about Keppel Infrastructure or it's sister company in talk to buy over Tuaspring? Malaysia's national bank Maybank is currently the biggest lender for Tuaspring, if it were to seize Tuaspring, isn't that a laughing stock to SG, with Dr. M poking at so many sensitive issues directly at us since last month, especially water supply issue?
Recent months SG seeing water and electricity tariffs increase in succession, Tuaspring should be turning profitable later part of this year onwards. The whole episode of suspension for Hyflux should last 3 to 4 months from 21 May, after sorting out with PERPs holders and lenders on payment schedules, penalties and interests |

No probs in govt taking a strategic stake in Hyflux or Tuaspring. Even if it is percieved as a bailout, it is a small price to pay than having your neighbour constantly trying to choke you.
Tuaspring will eventually turn a nice profit, this year, or if not next year. So I guess Hyflux is also trying to buy some time to get some emergency funds in place to wait it out.
Cool heads will triumph this one.

Govt should start crowdfunding for saving Hyflux like our neighbour up north, since there seem to be alot of support on the forums to save Hyflux as a company. But as far as the GLCs are concerned, I' m confident if any plan to acquire Hyflux assets is mooted, it will be done in an at-arms-length basis, just like city spring and KIT, the merger was yield accretive to the stakeholders.

we are fortunate to be surrounded by sea waters so that deslination is easier. we should keep having more desalination projects once the agreement runs out we still have our own water. | ||||

The key player in Hyflux' s survival/transformation is Maybank,a Malaysian bank. If Hyflux can present a positive scenario going forward it will be in the bank' s interest to allow the company to continue as a going concern. Key benchmarks and objectives must be put in place so that the " new" company do not repeat past mistakes. Let' s not forget Hyflux use to be a profitable company but over expansion and poor cost management led to their present dilemma. |

that is for sure that' s why 2 weeks ago i said govt must save Hyflux, it' s not about using CPF to save a company it' s also save thousands of Hyflux' s employees as well as save the country i said many times liao , this old cunning fox Dr M want to see SG die hard long ago so if Govt dun rescuse country stratergy company then who will help you ? TH can use billion funds to invest in other countries why can' t help own country stratergy company ?
