you know before SMM crashed, the market went into correction mode and SMM stood firm. now market rebound while SMM not moving up.....it' s not a STI component stock so it doesn' t have to track the STI. oil has rebounded while you see kepcorp and sembcorp and some other oil related counters still not moving....but it will come....there seems to be some kind of lag...lol

why SCI want to privatise SM in the first place ? If they really want should have done that when SM price fall to 1.50 ... moreover SM very active trading in the market it' s very easy for them to tap money from the open market. dun think SCI

The recent rally in oil price only caused onshore drilling activity to increase, offshore drilling (SMM' s customer base) activity hasn' t seen any significant pickup in the past 12 months. The would have to be very optimistic about the future price of oil to assign such a high p/b for SMM. I think its difficult for oil to go much higher than 65 or 70, already US shale production is going thru the roof, the US is already a larger oil producer than Saudi Arabia now and they will overtake Russia very soon if the artificial production curbs are kept in place. Only way offshore drilling can make a huge comeback is if demand grows much faster than estimated causing oil to skyrocket to 80 and beyond again, its not impossible but this is definitely not the base case scenario now.

Semb Marine this morning bounced off the 60 days moving average and retraced 2/3 from its recent high. Any accumulation is Imho just shorts covering their position. The good sign if true by one forummer is scrip borrowing to short the share is no more available. If no more SM share to short sell, chances shorts who borrowed will cover their shorts as the downward pressure diminished. Share damaged at tis juncture is very obvious and SM need to go through a period of healing/consollidation. I got no more vested interest in SM n no more compelling reason to show interest in trading it. There are other shares with healthy robust activity to get involve in. Best wishes and DYODD. | ||||
