x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	I think the Q3 results are pretty good. Revenue for Taxi dropped 38m SGD but Public Transport increased by 21m SGD. DT3 opened in October- hence the Public Transport revenue will increase significantly in Q4. Staff costs increased by 12m SGD- mainly due to DTL3. If not for this increase, the net profit will be much better and close to Q3 2016. Uber deal will be announced end of November as per analyst.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	The govt will not allow Singapore to have no taxis, otherwise, who is going to take care of 1) old/poor people who have no smart phone to book PHVs, 2) tourists who are used to taking taxis, 3) this case the biggest problem, the almost 50,000 taxis drivers who are all Singapore citizens with voting rights, who will lose their jobs? All go drive PHVs? Definitely not before the GE which is due on 2020. Note that if PHVs is going to be allowed to take street hails, the regulations on taxis has to applies, and they are many, I'll list down a few here. 1) 2% revenue (note it is revenue, not profit) plus corporate tax paid by taxi coy to govt (in contrast, grab doesn't need to pay that 2% and it is not paying a single cent of corporate tax because it is making losses) 2) short life span of taxi (8 years must scrape), 3) high inspection frequency of taxi (once every six months), 3) fitting kf taxi meter which is also subjected to inspection, 4) banned from going overseas, 5) carry a roof top sign, 6) etc Taxi are subjected to do much regulations. ronleech      ( Date: 13-Nov-2017 09:43) Posted: SG taxi company will be gone soon....

Earnings fell 8% YoY due to a 21% decline in taxi EBIT, but the bus and rail EBIT grew 3%. Taxi weakness was in line, but the rail turnaround could be delayed slightly due to upcoming fare cut. We trim FY18-19E EPS by 1%. Uber tie-up could be finalised before Nov 2017 benefits highlighted are: 1) offset taxi weakness 2) partner with deeper pockets and 3) access to better technology. Maintain BUY and DCF-based TP of SGD2.40.

CDG has one of the most sophisicated booking platforms before Grab/Uber came in, it has the lowest taxi fares in all the advanced countries in the world, it uses GPS to send out booking jobs to the nearest taxis more than 10 years back, in fact it has almost 100% success rate for booked taxis to arrive within 10 min except during train breakdown and rainy morning peak hours. It has surge charge and high booking fees to balance demand and supply during peak hours. It is very strict to taxi drivers (in fact too strict, sometimes we have to envy how CDG manages its almost 30,000 taxi drivers (1 taxi has 1.6 drivers)) and now it is passing these difficult taxi drivers to Grab...Do you know how many Grab taxi drivers either switch off Grab apps or totally don' t care about being banned? On figure Grab has 10,000 taxis, actually it has less than 15% of 10,000 (less than 1500) taxi drivers, because taxi drivers only need to fufill 15% AR and excluding those switch off and don' t care ones. Now you know why Grab have round one, two, three to lure CDG drivers?  I think the oly fatal blow to CDG is driverless taxis. I am vested for long term.
