x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	This SGX profits are likely to get lower n lower going forward cos the  value of trades seems to be declining by the day.  Appears really worst stock mkt in the developed world.  Management seems lost for clues as to how to arrest the slide.  Even their other businesses seem to be ebbing too going by their latest result.  Soon, the trading n clearning fees n what not may have to be raised to keep it profitable?  Maybe, to start with, they cld be looking at management costs?

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Totally agree.  its not the fee of transaction or allowing broking hse to manage this will solve the issue ( it maybe worst)  Eg let taxi companies implement there own charges > u do need some control and minumum cost to justify a GOOD safe system ( backup // first class network etc etc) ​ Now SGX and our big brother is facing declining VOL mthly .....the issue is the structure and many more.  Look at the issues ..( jus a few...penny stk issue, MTP, no lunch for brokers will increase volume , less IPO and privataling of counters..it goes on ) ​ Seriously SGX is not managed well ....top heavy and has NOT grow the market....blame is the game on global econ issue....( whatever, this blame will continue until they can seriously wake up and look into the underlining issue and do something) ​ Hate to say.....we are losing our major financial centre status v soon....if not already.  ​ Are there TOO many broking houses ?  Qanghoo      ( Date: 26-Sep-2016 07:13) Posted: Is there any evndence of collusion among broking firms?  I think this kind of thing (ie, similar or same fees charged for same products at different places)  seems still quite prevalent in a monopolistic-competition type of environment.  Yet,  it might not be that sellers n service providers are ganging up.  Public bus n  train  fares are regulated.  Taxi fares have been freed up for some yrs already.  Yet, there' s not much dif, is there?  What abt electronic goods.  U go round check prices n probably find that they are the same almost all the time for the same model at different stores.  For broking commissions, problem might partly be that costs are too high in one of the world' s most expensive cities to do business?  Furthermore,  due to the pitiful daily trading  volumes n values  in this sh*t mkt, brokerages cld just be having too much difficulties to spread the fixed costs out due to the very thin trades, leading to thin margins as it were?    What abt SGX itself?  Are its cost structure n fees for operating the equity mkt competitive compared to peers in other major financial centres?  Eg, if its fixed fee  charged on  broking hses are too high to start with, how do we expect the brokerages to lower their fees charged on clients further?  What abt  SGX' s clearing fees, etc?  Are they competitive to start with? brchkho1      ( Date: 25-Sep-2016 23:27) Posted: What I meant was to free up and let broking firm to determined the fee structure and compete for business.

Central banks are on slow rate hike mode spanning over decade. Death to day trading and low return on equity investment, interest rate remain low and slowly inching up as years go past. Welcome to boring slow growth decade, zero pay increment and minimum yearend bonus lol. No drama and also no excitment. Sg gov delisting transport companies NOL, SMRT, TigerAirway, SIA might be next on line. SIA stock price average for lasr 5 years is around 11 and it is the fattest cash cow with us$4.5b.
