The broker says the company's diversified operations in various countries will likely cushion any negative impact on earnings from an expected rise in competition. Earlier this month, the Infocomm Development Authority received bids from the three companies to take part in the upcoming auction of spectrum for a new telecom operator. The bidding for the spectrum may be held next month. CIMB forecasts SingTel's core net profit to be flat in the current fiscal year and rise by 8.4% next year and 10.1% in the following year. It keeps an add rating on the stock with a S$4.50 target price. SingTel is trading at S$3.99, up 1% while the local benchmark is 0.3% higher. We do not even know if the terms of purchase from Temasek is at a reasonable value to Singtel. It' s just part of the restructuring by Temasek, but Singtel has to take it on. With so much CAPEX expected for the telcos in the next few years, i personally expect debt to remain on a significant level. Not sure how this will pan out, with every increase of 0.5% in interest rate, how does it affect Singtel ability to maintain it' s dividend payout?
