With its price at below 20cts, so Long it continues to have business and successfully restructure its business, one day may have its glory again. I am still thinking will it be privatised one day? Maybe? A few years time? No one knows. I think there is always a possibility.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Hit 60c? Not so soon but it is likely given time. It was trading over $1 in better times but hit by oil crisis and trouble in Brazil. Company has cleaned up the yard and moved on. In fact it has diversified well into many other vessel types sheltering itself from the oil storm. Current orders taken and announced since Q1 to date is 25 vessels, total value about NOK10,000m to NOK11,000m. This exclude other jobs like hull sections manufacturing and electronics etc. We still have 4.5 more months for 2016. Compare this with year 2015 of just 6 vessels valued NOK3,594m. Vard make some small losses last Qtr but should turn profitable in the next 1-2 quarters. After that we should see better profitability going forward due to existing and possibly more orders to come. Vard is multi capability shipyard and very well supported by parent.  Once the company turn around successfully and profitability come, I see at least 0.6x BV or 30c. Give them another few Qtr of strong earnings and we may see your TP 60c or more. x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Vard' s debt is vessels construction related, it has no bonds.  Its recent drop on 1 Aug 16  is due to a  local brokerage  (UOBKH) removed Vard from its marginable list following the release of its result, and restricted its online trading. Other brokerage firms (like CIMB Securities) also followed suit to reduce the  maximum  margin amount  given  to Vard. Think this has resulted  in a short-term squeeze on Vard.  On the other hand, Vard has been winning contracts. They are quite aggressive to increase their orderbook following a switch to build cruise ships.

Interestingly, even though SJers here preceive VARD' s mgmt as one of the more capable group among SGX-listed OSV builders, it got reported short activities almost every day in 2016 so far.  This appears strange to me as compared to Nam Cheong, VARD build with contract and is diversing into other vessel type. So how' s VARD compared to Nam Cheong in quality and ratios? - VARD build with contract, Nam Cheong has load of vessel build without contracts in their BTS programme. - VARD is diversing into other vessel type while Nam Cheong is still in OSV. - VARD net gearing is 2.7x compared to NC' s 1.1. - VARD  current ratio  is 1.0x compared to NC' s 2.4. Quality of mgmt wise, VARD appears better.  Fin ratios wise NC appears better.
