Kris Energy swings to US$25.2m loss in Q2

EXPENSES related to the transfer of a US$108.3 million revolving credit facility weighed down Kris Energy' s results for the second quarter.

It sank into the red, recording a net loss of US$25.2 million for the three months ended June 30, 2016, compared with a net profit of US$9.6 million in the year-ago period, the group said in a Singapore Exchange filing on Sunday evening.

It said the slump was " due to non-cash depreciation, depletion and amortisation expenses incurred in relation to the group' s producing assets and non-recurring finance costs related to the transfer of the US$108.3 million revolving credit facility to DBS on June 30, 2016" .

Revenue for Q2 leapt 163.7 per cent to US$30.7 million from the previous year. The expansion in revenue was due to the increase in crude oil sales and despite the fall in average realised selling prices, it said.

Singapore' s KrisEnergy warns debt covenants may come under stress

SINGAPORE, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Singapore oil and gas exploration firm KrisEnergy Ltd on Sunday said some covenants on existing debt agreements could come under stress in the near term as weaker oil markets hit revenue.

The company said in a statement that it had engaged " external parties" to help look for ways to strengthen its capital structure as it grapples with the impact of a plunge in oil prices.

" These measures may entail a form of issuance of equity or an equity-linked instrument, a refinancing of our capital structure, and/or the divestment or farm-out of assets," said the company, which counts rigbuilder Keppel Corp as one of its largest shareholders.

Its ability to raise financing has been severely curbed, it said, while reporting a net loss for its second quarter.

Oilfield services firm Swiber Holdings a few weeks ago applied to place itself under judicial management, after initially filing for liquidation, becoming the largest local company to fall victim to the slump in oil prices.

All these should have been taken into the account and reflected in DBS Financial Reports as at 30.6.16 (Announced on 8/8/16, Monday) or

reported under post Balance Sheet events. (Under para 10....any knownfactors or events that may affect the group in the next reporting period and the next 12 months ).....

If the amount is considered material, they will be taken up in the latest accounts.

DBS, OCBC, UOB get AA- credit rating from S & P

Rating agency S & P Global Ratings has affirmed the credit ratings of all three local Singapore banks at AA- with a stable outlook.

The rating refers to a bank' s capacity to meet its financial commitment as " very strong" , and a stable outlook " means that a rating is not likely to change" .

The stable outlook on the banks also reflects the outlook on the sovereign credit rating on Singapore.

S & P Global Ratings credit analyst Rujun Duan said: " The affirmed ratings reflect our view that DBS will maintain its strong market position, sound capital and earning capability, and satisfactory risk management track record over the next 18 to 24 months, despite ongoing external headwinds. "

Of the three names, Ms Duan added that DBS will benefit most in the ongoing rising interest rate cycle. She said this is due to DBS ' predominant market share in low-cost deposit funding in Singapore.

S & P also said the three banks will maintain their " high systemic importance in Singapore" .
