x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Dow futures add 200 points as Brexit polls turn U.S. stock index futures futures indicated a higher open Monday as global markets rallied on polls that showed the remain camp making gains ahead of Britain' s EU referendum later this week. The Dow was set to make triple-digit gains after two opinion polls released over the weekend showed those wanting to stay in the European Union holding a slim majority against the leave campaign. Dow futures were up about 200 points, while S & P and Nasdaq futures advances 22 points and 54 points, respectively. Investors have been on edge in the run-up to Britain' s June 23 referendum. The bluechip index got a boost after poll results indicated that voters in Britain were leaning more towards remaining in the European Union, ahead of the June 23 Brexit referendum. About 673.9 million shares worth S $ 798.1 million in total changed hands, which worked out to an average unit price of S $ 1.18 per share.

The pan-European STOXX 600 was up 2.8 percent. Global markets are reacting positively to several opinion polls over the weekend that showed that the remain camp was regaining momentum ahead of the referendum on European Union membership on Thursday. Public opinion appears to have turned since the murder of pro-EU Labour MP Jo Cox last Thursday which led to the suspension of campaigning by both sides. However, pollsters claim that the death has had little impact on sentiment and the remain camp was always likely to gain support in the last few days running up to the vote. campaigning has now resumed. The British pound has climbed as the Brexit concerns have eased, reaching $ 1.4568 in the European trading session on Monday, compared to levels of around $ 1.40 on Thursday. Oil prices also extended gains on Monday, due in part to the weaker dollar and Brexit concerns easing . Banks on a tear The banking sector was up around 4 percent and led the gains in Europe boosted by a rally in the shares of the Italian lenders.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Asia trades mostly higher Nikkei leads gain Asia markets were mostly higher while the pound rose on Monday, amid easing Brexit concerns after several weekend polls showed the remain camp regained momentum ahead of a referendum vote to decide the U.K.' s future within the European Union (EU). The benchmark Nikkei 225 was up 2.36 percent as a relatively weaker yen took some pressure off stocks and investors ignored news of a more than 11 percent drop in Japanese exports for the month of May. Across the Korean Strait, the Kospi gained 1.45 percent. In hong Kong, the Hang Seng index added 1.08 percent. Chris Weston, chief market strategist at spreadbettor IG, said risk appetite had increased after weekend polls showed momentum in favor of the remain camp in the Brexit referendum. " Volumes through the equity market will be key today, as this will detail whether any buying has genuine backbone or whether this is more a position adjustment," Weston said. Britons will head to the polls on June 23 to vote to decide if the UK should leave or stay within the 28-member EU trade bloc. If the leave camp won, the process of negotiating a British exit from the EU would begin, but talks could take more than two years. Public opinion appeared to have slightly tilted in favor of the remain camp, according to several polls over the weekend. Oil prices advanced during Asian hours, with global benchmark Brent up 1 percent at $ 49.66 a barrel as of 12:41 pm HK / SIN, while US crude added 1.13 percent to $ 48.52. Energy plays in the region were positive, with Santos shares advancing 7.58 percent, Woodside Petroleum up 4.67 percent and Inpex up 5.33 percent. Spot gold, another safe-haven asset, fell some 1.36 percent to $ 1,280.80 an ounce on the back of easing Brexit concerns. Gold miners in Australia traded lower, with Newcrest shares down 3.88 percent and Evolution Mining down 3.39 percent. The London FTSE index is called to open 62 points higher at 6,176, the German DAX up 254 points at 9,855 and the French CAC up 114 points at 4,299, according to IG. Global markets are reacting positively to several opinion polls over the weekend that showed that the " Remain" camp was regaining momentum ahead of the referendum on European Union membership on Thursday. In other Asia news, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan announced at the weekend that he would not be seek a second term when his three-year reign ended in September, and would return to academia instead.

x 0   x 0  Alert Admin	Yellen' s Testimony Among Non-Brexit Events of Interest This Week All eyes are on the U.K. referendum this week but there are some other events investors should also be aware of: Fed chair Janet Yellen will give her semi-annual testimony on monetary policy to Congress on Tuesday and Wednesday.   " This could have some bearing on the USD," says Bernard Aw, market strategist at brokerage IG. " US data will also be of interest, with home sales, durable goods orders (Friday), and initial jobless claims on tap," adds Aw.   " Global markets are going to be nervous" and " probably not going to pay much attention to other data or event," Aw adds.
