Highlight Wilmar enters into JV with Singapore Food Industries to supply food in China January 22, 2016: 5:45 PM Wilmar International (Valuation: 2.00, Fundamental: 0.80) ' s unit, Yihai Kerry Investments, has entered into two conditional joint venture agreements (JVAs) with Singapore Food Industries (SFI) to supply food to the China market. SFI is a unit of ground-handling and in-flight catering service provider SATS. Yihai and SFI will incorporate an investment holding company and an operating company in China and will each have a registered capital of RMB230 million ($ 50 million) and RMB200 million, respectively. SFI will subscribe for 60% and Yihai will subscribe for 40% of the registered capital of each of these companies. Shares in Wilmar ended 4.17% higher at $ 2.75 on Friday. |

Given the ridiculous high debt and low cashflow returns ,one can only wonder why in the world would one invest at $3.3 for 7% of unsustainable returns while taking all these unnecessary risk when usd treasuries already gives ~2% and another capital gain of 8% risk free in the past year. If not for the conglomerate value of a real integrated supply chain , i would not like to pay more than $1.1 for 21%-3%x1.78=15.66% returns necessary given the expected rise in financing cost and the 10-20% volatility in share price, further currency losses in unhedged but inevitable rmb depreciation and profit buffer from revenue shrinkage in view of a global slowdown. In a broad downturn, the real risk of capital loss far exceeding many years of dividens should be of paramount concern to any share investor.Any Vehicles with massive debt gearing especially reits! ,would not be spared the carnage of higher interest and margin vaporisation from revenue compression.Theres absolutely No reason to hold them after the party is over especially given the continuing comedy sellside talk by desperate salesman which frequently cited excuse of buying quality for Less Loss. Apparently being professional in his job is a better way to ensure his yearly bonus target is met while the recommendation of asking his client to walk over the cliff is self rationalised with the truthful excuse that he held the conviction that the world is flat ,as far as he could see despite the fact he had already climb quite a fair bit up the monetary ladder, piggy bagging on his obedient client' s back . In case they shall fall, he got a nice cushion under him which is as bullet proof as any commission he had gartnered in his bank. While not all salesman are bad eggs, the unprofessional but competent salesman will actually not try to sell his client dangerous things. |
