Don' t know how they manage to find the current CEO?  From report he is ex-ST Eng and both AEM and ST Eng are heavily invested by our sovereign  fund.

AEM: Q1 net profit tumbles 85% to S$2.4 million warns uptick to be seen only in coming FY2025

AEM Holdings has reported earnings of just $2.4 million for 1QFY2024, down 85% y-o-y.

Revenue dropped by 38.3% to $94.2 million and net margins too plunged by 7.7 percentage points to 2.5%.

According to AEM, the weaker bottom line was also caused by a restructuring charge of $2.1 million.

Revenue, when compared to the preceding Q4FY2023, was flat, which AEM says it due to slower than expected recovery of its key customer.

The build-up of inventory in the life science and industrial sectors has hurt revenue too, the company says.

AEM says as a result of its continuous efforts in R& D, it has won two significant high-volume production wins for its test solutions in the high performance compute and AI space.

&ldquo The industry is at the cusp of an AI-driven revolution, and our recent program wins are a testament to the strength of our Test 2.0 solutions, and the role our test vision will play in addressing the future needs of the devices powering the next technological wave of growth," says CEO Chandran Nair.

AEM warns that despite the growth prospects, the semiconductor industry as a whole is still seeing overcapacity and end market " demand uncertainty" .

As such, recovery has been uneven.

" Given that the visibility into the second half of the year remains limited, we expect any uptick in growth to occur only in 2025.

" So while the pace of the rebound is expected to be gradual and measured, the future years looks promising with the proliferation of AI capabilities at the edge," says AEM.

Its dividend is still a draw.

But as many forumers here have correctly noted, don' t buy it just to collect dividend.

Venture Corp
Price targets:
DBS Group Research BUY $16.90
CGS International ADD $15.93
Maybank Securities BUY $15.80
UOB Kay Hian BUY $16.37

No surprise, outlook remains bright

Most analysts have kept their calls on Venture Corp following FY2023 earnings that did not throw up any surprises. Despite lower earnings, Venture has maintained its final dividend at 50 cents, bringing the full-year payout to 75 cents, implying a yield of 5.3%.

In his Feb 23 note, Maybank Securities Jarick Seet, citing management, flags that the 2HFY2024 ended December should be stronger than 1HFY2024 as production of new products starts. Venture is also confident it can maintain net margins between 8% and 10% for FY2024.

The company continues to see significant growth opportunities in life sciences, test instrumentation, data centres, semiconductor equipment, and advanced industrial, networking and communications. In 1QFY2024, Venture has also launched luxury lifestyle and wellness products.

Even as Seet has kept his BUY call, he has raised his target price to $15.80 from $15.50, pegged to an unchanged 16 times forward FY2024 earnings to consider revised earnings estimates.

On their part, John Cheong and Heidi Mo of UOB Kay Hian have maintained their BUY call and $16.37 target price on the stock. They note that Venture is expanding its services, including design, sourcing and supply chain management. This will deepen collaboration with many of Ventures class-leading customers, say the analysts in their Feb 23 note.

William Tng of CGS International calls the company a free cash flow generator as it has no borrowings and sits on a record cash hoard of $1.06 billion while free cash flow hit a record $473.9 million.

Like Seet, Tng has slightly raised his target price to $15.93 from $15.90 after he projected higher earnings per share to consider a smaller share base following a series of share buybacks. His valuation multiple is kept at 14.6 times.

Ling Lee Keng of DBS Group Research is more bullish than her peers. In her Feb 23 note, she flags how Venture can capture new opportunities with its diversified product mix and blue-chip customer base.

With an eye on the longer term, Venture continues to invest and develop new differentiating capabilities across multiple technology domains, she adds.

Her new target price of $16.90, from $15.10 previously, is based on 16 times FY2024 earnings, which, thanks to the improving outlook, is a higher multiple versus 14 times previously. &mdash The Edge Singapore

For PRIME cuts, I patronise CUT, Fatcow or Bedrock....Giving AEM a miss as theirs is food court quality at best...they have well passed their PRIME after failing to get a listing on Nasdaq and overstating their inventories..

AEM Announces High Volume Manufacturing Order Win for its Automated Burn-In Test Solution Singapore, April 3, 2024 &ndash Today, AEM, a global leader in test and handling solutions, announced that its next-generation Automated Burn-In (ABI) test system has been selected as the Plan-of-Record solution by a major fabless provider of high-performance compute (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor chips. The systems are intended for high-volume manufacturing (HVM) to address the emerging test needs for the customer' s new device roadmap and will commence delivery in FY 2024, with further deliveries expected in the following years. A key factor in what AEM' s ABI offers is the lower cost-of-test for HVM Burn-In. The fully automated operation and high parallelism allow efficient testing and stressing of high-power semiconductor devices such as AI processors, or other integrated circuits, which can significantly increase the throughput and efficiency of the testing process. These systems are designed to test products by subjecting them to extended periods of operation under stressful conditions, typically to detect potential defects or weaknesses before they reach the end consumer.
