Wilmar - how will newly listed call warrant perform if stock pushes toward Joey Choy' s $4 " near-term trigger" ?
  • Back on 7 April, we shared SGX Academy Trainer Joey Choy' s write up on Wilmar shares, where he stated that as long as prices hold above $3.60, Wilmar shares might push toward the psychological resistance level of $4
  • Joey believes that $4 is a key near-term trigger, which if broken, may push the stock toward the next resistance of $4.40
  • Since his article, Wilmar shares had dropped to a low of $3.43 on 30 April before closing just above the $.3.60 support level at $3.61 - and held above $3.60 since
  • While the article mentioned Wilmar call warrant ZFIW, Macquarie Warrants Singapore listed a new Wilmar call warrant NWVW yesterday
  • The new warrant expires at the end of November, allowing investors to have a longer holding period compared to the short-dated ZFIW which expires at the end of next month
  • According to the Warrant Calculator tool for NWVW, should Wilmar shares head 6.7% higher in the next 14 days, NWVW is estimated to climb 35.3% from SGD 0.017 today to SGD 0.023
  • Should Wilmar shares take a month to do so, the warrant is expected to increase less i.e. +29.4% to SGD 0.022
  • The maximum holding period for this warrant based on the view that Wilmar shares would head to $4 is 71 days from now i.e. 17 July 2026 as the warrant will no longer generate higher returns than if one were to buy Wilmar shares and will in fact generate a negative return if an investor held onto the warrant until the end of July

Earnings Beat, Buyback, China Signals Might Change The Case For Investing In Illumina (ILMN)

Simply Wall St
Wed, May 20, 2026 at 6:14 AM GMT+8 3 min read

  • In the past few days, Illumina reported a Q1 2026 earnings beat driven by stronger-than-expected NovaSeq X placements and clinical consumables demand, raised its full-year revenue outlook, and authorized a new US$1.50 billion share repurchase program.

  • The CEO&rsquo s participation in the recent Trump&ndash Xi summit also drew attention, as it hinted at potential easing of China export restrictions that could affect Illumina&rsquo s future access to that key market.

With both Venture' s customers - Philip Morris and Illumina sales soaring, it should be positive for Venture moving forward

Philip Morris International (PM) shares have shown strong performance, recently trading around \(\$171\) per share, driven by a solid Q1 2026 earnings beat ($1.96 EPS vs. $1.83 expected) and growing smoke-free portfolio revenue. While the stock recently pulled back nearly 2% from post-earnings highs, it has still outperformed the broader tobacco industry, benefiting from robust ZYN pouch sales and IQOS, which retained its FDA modified-risk authorization.

As of May 2026, Illumina (ILMN) shares are experiencing a strong rally, up over 5% following a Q1 2026 earnings beat, with revenue growth driven by NovaSeq demand, trading around $139&ndash $142. The company raised its 2026 guidance, and investors are responding positively to the continued divestiture of Grail.

Wilmar Sugar sets June start for 2026 crushing season as bigger crop looms

Wilmar Sugar and Renewables has confirmed that the 2026 sugar crushing season will begin in early June, with mills across Queensland preparing for a larger crop compared to last year.

The company announced that its four Burdekin mills &ndash Invicta, Pioneer, Kalamia and Inkerman &ndash along with Plane Creek Mill at Sarina, will begin crushing operations on June 2. Proserpine Mill and the Herbert region&rsquo s Victoria and Macknade mills are scheduled to start operations a week later on June 9, Mackay & WhitSunday Life reported.Wilmar General Manager Operations James Wallace said the start dates were finalised after assessing crop forecasts, factory preparedness and expected field conditions.

&ldquo We&rsquo ve got a bigger crop than last year, and we&rsquo re keen to get the season under way to minimise the risk of a late finish and the associated challenges of pushing into the wet season,&rdquo Wallace said.

He added that the company aims to complete crushing operations across all factories by mid-to-late November.

Wilmar is forecasting a statewide sugarcane crop of 15.19 million tonnes for the 2026 season, nearly one million tonnes higher than last year&rsquo s total throughput of 14.23 million tonnes.

The company estimates the Burdekin region will account for 7.97 million tonnes, while Proserpine is expected to contribute 1.67 million tonnes and Plane Creek around 1.45 million tonnes.

General Manager Engineering Istvan Torok said maintenance and upgrade work across factories, rail infrastructure and rolling stock is close to completion ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, General Manager Cane Supply and Grower Relations Dave Zeller said training for locomotive drivers has already started and urged motorists to remain cautious near cane railway crossings.

&ldquo We&rsquo re reminding residents and visitors to take extra care on the roads and look out for cane trains,&rdquo Zeller said.

CDL&rsquo s Singapore property sales fall to S$609.6 million in Q1, global hotel RevPAR rises 4.3%

For the three months ended Mar 31, the group and its joint venture associates sold 242 units

[SINGAPORE] City Developments Ltd (CDL) posted a decline in its first-quarter Singapore property sales, while its global hotel operations recorded higher revenue per available room (RevPAR).

For the three months ended Mar 31, the group and its joint venture associates sold 242 units with a total sales value of S$609.6 million. This was down from the year-ago period&rsquo s 795 units with S$1.9 billion in sales value.

The sales were driven mainly by the launch of its 246-unit freehold Newport Residences in January, the developer said in an operational update on Wednesday (May 20).

It noted that in contrast, its Q1 2025 showing benefited from the launch of the larger 777-unit The Orie.

Newport Residences recorded an average selling price of about S$3,200 per square foot. To date, it has sold 192 or 78 per cent of the units.

In February, CDL clinched a government land sales parcel at Tanjong Rhu Road in a joint venture for S$709.3 million, or S$1,455 per square foot per plot ratio.

The group&rsquo s hotel operations recorded a 4.3 per cent increase in global RevPAR to S$144.80 for the latest quarter, from S$138.80 the year before.

This was on the back of RevPAR growth in Australasia (17.7 per cent), Singapore (7.5 per cent), Europe (4.7 per cent) and New York (4 per cent), it said.

As at Mar 31, CDL&rsquo s net gearing ratio stood at 72 per cent, factoring in the fair value of investment properties and the Tanjong Rhu acquisition. Its interest cover stood at 2.7 times.

It maintained " strong&rdquo cash reserves of S$2.1 billion, supported by S$4.3 billion in cash and undrawn committed credit facilities.

&ldquo The group remains resilient amid ongoing geopolitical uncertainties, such as conflict in the Middle East, evolving trade policies, inflationary pressures, and energy costs,&rdquo CDL noted.

&ldquo While global macroeconomic headwinds may lead to cautious sentiment, the group&rsquo s diversified portfolio remains healthy and stable.&rdquo

Shares of CDL : C09 -1.82% closed 1.8 per cent or S$0.15 lower at S$8.07 on Wednesday, before the update.

No point for the average investor to spend too much time focusing on Trump' s every tweet, especially when almost none of them change the long term fundamentals. For every twist and turn the average investor will be too slow to react compared to professional institutional managers with the suitable analytical and technological firepower to eat their lunches. Unless you really think you can compete at that level, better to fade out the noise and focus on longer term trends. Certainly for me that is the better path.
