SBS Transit H1 net profit falls 7.7% to S$31.1 million
However, the company declares a higher interim dividend of S$0.0895 per share

[SINGAPORE] SBS Transit recorded a net profit of S$31.1 million for the first half of 2025, 7.7 per cent lower than the year-ago period.

Revenue fell 4.5 per cent to S$745.9 million, from S$781.4 million the year before, the bus and train operator said in a bourse filing on Monday (Aug 11). This decline was due to the loss of the Jurong West bus package in August 2024, which was partially offset by higher average rail fares.

Revenue from public transport services dropped 5.1 per cent to S$715.6 million, while revenue from other commercial services rose 11.9 per cent to S$30.3 million. The increase was attributed to higher digital advertising revenue coupled with the SG60 advertisement campaign on buses.

Earnings per share for H1 2025 stood at S$0.0995, down from S$0.108 in H1 2024.

However, SBS Transit declared a higher interim dividend of S$0.0895 per share, compared with S$0.0558 a year ago.

&ldquo Rail operations revenue is expected to increase with steady growth in ridership and fare adjustments that came into effect on Dec 28, 2024,&rdquo SBS Transit said.

Bus operations revenue is expected to decline as a result of the full-year impact of the loss of the Jurong West bus package from Aug 31 last year. It also noted how its Tampines bus package will be expiring in July 2026. The group has submitted a bid for the project again and is awaiting results of the tender.

&ldquo Manpower costs are anticipated to rise due to the tight labour market. Barring unforeseen circumstances, fuel and energy costs are expected to ease.&rdquo

[Maybank] Venture - Outlook more stable (VMS SP, CP SGD12.72, U/G BUY, TP SGD13.90, Technology)
- Margins likely to remain stable
- Actively seeking new customers and products
- Special dividend shows confidence (6.3% yield)
Management declared a special interim dividend of SGD0.05, taking 1H25 dividend to SGD0.30, enhancing shareholder returns. With a forecast dividend yield of 6.3%, a strong balance sheet and an active share-buyback programme, which will now be accelerated and approved by the board, we believe there is share price support until the trade situation improves. With margins likely able to sustain, we believe the outlook for Venture will improve as new product introductions continue to kick in. |

I agree with this " Neber say Neber" view . Too many S Chip frxxx    cases. And they kept cropping up.
YZJ is of course considered a blue chip and leading shipbuilder. But the risk remains. As long as management sits outside SG, there is some risk, no matter how small. I dont know if YZJ management sits here or elsewhere. I have lost money on S Chips before. Beauty China, Full Apex etc.
Decided not to take such risk again. For me, better to keep money in the bank and let it erode with inflation than to take such risk. Too many SGporeans lost money with S Chips. Life savings. Hard earned money. Only now investors realise that  some of these companies have been rejected by Shanghai and Hong Kong and therefore came here to list.. And when they went under, MAS as regulator couldnt do anything about it. The Director/CEO would disappear and become uncontactable.

Yes, Bro yoga.
I have noticed that the monkey in Miss Yang is many, many times more HIONG than the monkey in Ascendas.
Just look at today. Miss Yang can be up by 29 cts intraday. Ascendas got lidat or not ? NO HAVE !!!
Ascendas will take 3 to 4 weeks to rise by 29 cts if at all. Becoz the monkey use a walking stick. Not like the
monkey in Miss Yang who wears roller blades.
We cant ask the monkey in Miss Yang to move house to come to Ascendas to play.
But we as traders can move house and move from Ascendas to Miss Yang.
But it is not without risk.
One of the biggest risk is Miss Yang is a China-based company.
Yes, it is an STI-index stock. But so what ? What' s more important is it is a China company run by Chinese directors.
All it takes is for one or two directors to turn rogue and decide to abscond with the company' s money.  Neber say neber.
I told this story here once before in the last year. Neber mind, I will tell the story again for the benefit of those who didnt
read my story.
Many, many NDPs ago, I was very actively trading a China company known as Ferrochina which was listed in our SGX.
I was jumping in and out and having a good time making money.  In my last trade with her, I had 50k riding on her. I sold
and collected my principal and profits. 3 days later, this stock was suspended from trading. Initially, nobody knew what
happened. And then as news got out, it became clear that the directors of this China company had absconded with the
company' s money. Ferrochina was a solid company making industrial steel. She was the 3rd largest steel maker in the
world. 3rd largest not in China but in the world lare. Not solid enough mare? But still, when Chinese directors become
greedy  and turn rogue, the unexpected can become a reality. And many investors will get hurt. During the first few days
following the directors' criminal act, employees faithfully showed up for work as usual. But their bosses were missing.
As the days passed, the continued absence of the bosses started to worry some of the management staffs. The bosses
were uncontactable. It then dawned on the rest of the management and employees that the bosses had run away with
company funds. That' s when the shit hits the fan. Ferrochina never resumed trading. Whatever amount invested in this
stock became a total write-off.  If I had not sold 3 days earlier, I would have lost 50k just like that.
Miss Yang is a China company. However good and solid this company is, we need to exercise caution. Neber say neber.
I can park my hard-earned savings in Ascendas and hold long long and collect dividends and feel Pung Sim about it.
I cannot do the same with Miss Yang |

Venture Corp Q2 profit edges up to S$57.1 million H1 earnings remain lower
Profit for H1 down 8.6% at S$113 million

[SINGAPORE] Technology solutions provider Venture Corp posted a 2.3 per increase in net profit to S$57.1 million for its second quarter ended June 2025, up from S$55.9 million in the previous quarter.

Revenue rose 4.7 per cent to S$645.3 million for the period, from S$616.6 million in Q1, the mainboard-listed group said in a regulatory filing on Wednesday (Aug 6). The increase was driven by growth across most of its technology domains.

However, for H1 2025, the group saw an 8.6 per cent drop in net profit to about S$113 million, from S$123.7 million the year before.

Revenue for the period fell 8.8 per cent to S$1.3 billion, from S$1.4 billion previously.

Venture attributed the decline to softer customer demand for its lifestyle technology offerings, as well as improved reliability and longevity of a customer&rsquo s key product &ndash due to the group&rsquo s research and development and design efforts &ndash which triggered fewer product replacements.

Earnings per share (EPS) for Q2 stood at S$0.198, up slightly from S$0.193 in Q1. For the first half of the year, EPS fell to S$0.392, from S$0.426 a year ago.

The company declared a total dividend of S$0.30 per share this comprised a S$0.25 interim dividend and a S$0.05 special dividend, up from an interim dividend of S$0.25 in H1 2024. The dividend will be paid on Sep 12, after the books are closed on Sep 2.

Venture generated net cash of S$149.8 million in H1, down from S$270.3 million the year before. However, its working capital position improved by S$119.1 million, driven by lower inventories and better trade receivables and payables.

The group acknowledged ongoing uncertainties from the broad-based US tariffs and continued softness in the lifestyle segment. Still, it said it remains confident in its ability to &ldquo turn volatility into opportunities&rdquo , citing its resilient business model and strong balance sheet.
