That' s how Government works. They would never commit actual numbers as they themselves are not sure how much profit they will meet (even when they have professional analysts to project for them for the next 3-5 years)
On my own personal take, I think ' up to' 5 years is a rather long stretch as the investors I know that throw tonnes of money on Singtel and is expecting 3 years max to see profits. That' s their target time range.
Singtel management have probably came up with a road map on DB. Although there are no physical brick and mortar but they will still need to invest servers to run them. Of course it' s still relatively cheaper to invest on servers with low manpower and cheap rental with a big warehouse space than paying for premium super small space rental in city area with high salary workers.
Still DB have a long long way to go. It' s catered for the next generation of citizens aged 50 and below. Although we do not need to be tech savvy but approaching a bank with no physical form is not meant for everyone. There will be a targetted audience and it depends on how GRAB and Singtel partnership approach. To entice new customers, they really need to come up with already better deals with the hotly contested current banks in the market from the 3 BIG. They too need to compete with SEA and ANT. So winning the license is only the first stage. |

Consumer goods from China will become more competitive in countries such as Japan as tariffs are reduced.
Americans should be concerned that the RCEP has gone ahead without the US. The Trump administration ' s protectionist stance and America' s withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership have led to reduced US involvement in economic cooperation globally, especially in Asia. To some extent, America has failed to counter China ' s influence in the region.
Nevertheless, President-elect Joe Biden is likely to prioritise Asean and Asia Pacific, and will look to expand America ' s influence and involvement in economic partnerships.

While intuition may indicate this is not sustainable, short term indicators have just turned up. Directional movement indicators, which had been neutral till the start of 2021, have started to turn positive. That should support a price advance to $0.26. |
