One broking hse estimated FY14 EPS at 28c.  Maybe it cld be even higher, possibly 30c.  And if EPS is really gonna be that high, cld CES even be considering 3c special dividend on top of the normal 4c?  Lets hope so.

Let' s bear in mind that TH itself tried taking SC private some yrs back, probably at a higher valuation.  Why?  They did not succeed.  Why?  Obviously thee must be greater intrinsic value not unearth by  a lot of  investors.  .

With or without a takeover, there' s a possibility of the share price moving to closer to $1 if  SC returns to profitability, especially  with the hope that the the global economy is able to grow at a higher rate in the near future.  So, investors who hold longterm might be well rewarded.

The Great Courts Sale is on with no end date - but no buyers!  Company is fighting a losing battle trying to support the price.  Very soon, they will suffer from financial exhaustion and price will collapse < 40c.  Better not be killed by a mighty plunging knife!.

According to CF' s latest result, NAV is 59c (US)/share.  Multiplied by total shares and CF' s NAV is abt 1.5 bil (S$).  That includes the net value of Copeinca.

Anyone in the know whether this project is within Rotary' s business and, if so, whether they bid for it and did not win?   Samsung wins contract to build world' s largest LNG storage tank in Singapore, expand terminal
SINGAPORE LNG Corporation (SLNG) has awarded a S$700 million engineering, procurement and construction contract for the Phase 3 expansion of the Singapore LNG Terminal to Samsung C& T Corporation. The contract, signed on August 26, involves the further expansion of the terminal to include a fourth liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tank and additional regasification facilities. The expansion will boost the terminal' s send-out capacity to around 11 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) from the current six Mtpa. At 260,000 m3, the new fourth LNG storage tank will be the largest in the world, and able to receive a full cargo load from a Q-Max carrier, which is currently the largest LNG carrier in the world. John Ng, chief executive officer of SLNG, said the expansion would allow Singapore to respond to new business opportunities in the regional or global LNG markets. Construction of Phase 3 is scheduled to begin by end-2014. The regasification facilities are expected to be completed by 2017, while the fourth tank is expected to be completed by 2018. The terminal' s design also makes provisions for a possible future Phase 4 expansion, which may be considered at a later stage should the demand support the investment. Singapore LNG Corporation was incorporated by the Energy Market Authority in June 2009 to develop, build, own and operate Singapore' s first LNG terminal on Jurong Island. The Singapore LNG Terminal began operations in May 2013 with two storage tanks and an initial throughput capacity of 3.5 Mtpa. A third tank and additional regasification facilities were completed in January 2014, increasing the throughput capacity of the terminal to six Mtpa, and a secondary jetty was added to the operations in March 2014. To date, the terminal has received 32 LNG vessels delivering more than 108 million mmBtu (million British thermal units), or about 2.06 million tonnes, of LNG to Singapore.

If I remember correctly, the final offer by TH was 1.88.    This is in my mind cos I was one of those who didn' t accept the offer (one lot only, lah - in CPF).  Subsequently, Stats returned some cash to shareholders.  Can' t remember how much.  So, the price TH paid wld have been 1.88 - cash returned.

Was there a report of some interest from OUE?  But even if there is no competitor, wld the major shareholders sell < 3, given the potential intrinsic value not priced in at 2.79?  Don' t think OCBC are that desperate, are they.  They didn' t initiate a fire sale anyway.  So, they' d probably agree only if the offer is attractive, which 2.79 may not be.

I recall a few mths back reading that Philips Securities had a TP of 3.70.  Don' t think there' s another more  pessimistic TP.  MacQuaarrie' s TP is 5.  I think since 2014, the low is abt 3.90 and high < 4.20.  Doubt if it wld reach 5 in the next 12 mths.  It' s margins are lower, compared to Kep,  and the new repair yard at Tuas has not lived up to analysts expectation.  If that improves,  I believe it cld get back to the 4.50 range.  And if overall margins improve, and contributions from associates like COSCO are also more positive going forward, then maybe can get closer to 5.

Me waiting for 8.50 as a target entry price.  I was dead sure that the price wld be eventually pushed back.  Haven' t we seen this kind of thing many times before?  Well, it' s happened again.  But for those like me who was too ambitious did not profit from it.

Just a little caution.  No doubt  the JV may in the long run prove very successful.  With the current situation in PRC though, and high statup, interest and other operating costs and currency fluctuations, the likelihood of the venture adversely impacting bottomline in the near term cannot be discounted.  If that happens, CKs will have a field day forcing the share price down for their own gains.  Just look at Midas, HLA and GLP as a few examples.  DYODD though.

The main culprit pulling Semcorp I down is the rig side.  Also, wholesale elec price in Spore seem very competitive.

Looks like the main problems are the consumer products side in the PRC.  Don' t know when they can turn the property sector around.  If it happens soon enough, Xinfei n Airwell' s fortunes shd improve and HLA wld likely trade closer $2. |

Good qn:  Can NOL do an SMRT?  Answer is no, simply because while NOL operates in an extremely harsh environment where survival  depends on the global economic climate and how proactive management  response to market conditions  and the cut-throat competition among rival operators, SMRT is a cash cow  in a market with practically no competition, at present at least.  When costs go up, no need to  tax the brain too much to to see how  operations can be managed  more cost-effectively.    Just ask for fare increase and it shall be given eventually,  so that it not only returns to profitibility soon enough but is able to make sure that dividend is paid year in year out.  How many companies listed on SGX can afford such luxury like them.  Just look at their latest results.
