The last share buyback was on 2 Sep 14.  Doubt if they will continue buying, bearing in mind also that another 25 mil shares means $25 mil+.

75.5 appears to be a lost on investment since the purchase price from previous privatisation attempt less cash return appears to be higher.    If so, how  to account to tax payers?

Date correct lah. Just like the edge the date will be for next week when its available this week.

Fragrance might not move like bullet train but got potential for asset play. Cannot buy all ' cheong' stock so I am vested in this tortoise for some defensive play. Though not much, it does pays dividend higher than bank interest and I will take it as compensation for my locked up capital. Hopefully in next couple of years it become the next oxley!

So 95cents still can buy, if it' s a 3 cent gain, more than enough to cover CFD costs plus interest.    If this is gained within a few days, my suspicion is increased that it will press on to 1.50 due to the fact that CES need 60 mln shares for their employee share option scheme, and they' ve only gotten half so far.

Today, DBSV revised its target price upwards to 80c.  Problem is, DBSV seem to be parroting others and join the buy/sell chorus only when share price has moved up/down sobstantially.  Eg, they made their buy call on Valuetronics with 72c tp only after the price had been fried to around 50c.  Then they revised TP downwards (think it' s 60c) only after price had collapsed.  So, how to trust tbeir calls?

So long as opportunities to create votatility are not contained, there will probably be no end to the game.  The company itself shd be more forthcoming in engaging investors.  Afterall, we' ve already seen so many rounds of speculative price ups and downs.  And these are not small price movements.  Yet, why does the company always seem to wait to be queried before it reacts with  any public announcement?  And this is no ordinary company.  It is a govt-linked company, > 80% owned by the State.  So, when we  are bombarded with   such fervent preachings of transparency, etc, etc, from official channels .... well, you can take it with a full gulp of salt!!!!

I am by no way senior..maybe just a bit of experience through losing to market.

Well.. stock should be above 0.475 first then can find entry opportunity.

Today is a good example.. a lot of ppl got overly excited that it is rebounding...Some may rush in to chase the stock.

But the trap is set at 0.47 to suck in the public to trap them at high.

We may even see this stock make another historical low in the days to come..

I think... for the time Being.... patience.....

From the bits n pieces of skimpy info we' d had  in the past, apparently the Lafayette had had quite a bit of problem when it was flying the Russian flag, and this had probably been partly responsible for the deterioration  CF' s profitability in the last two yrs or so.  Now that CF has adopted this strategy of getting Russia off its back to fish for greater rewards elsewhere, there is hope that its EPS wld revisit the mid teens, at least, sooner rather than later.  Fingers crossed.  DYODD though.

JMS213      ( Date: 07-Sep-2014 18:28) Posted:

Yes, latest development is pointing to a healthy and positive Equilibrium. Now the Lafayette changed flag to Peru and is named Damanzaiho.

Just watch as the fish transform ... it should improve the company profitability. Management is working on the intregration and operation of CF.

Equilibrium is positive.

This shd improve CF' s longterm profitability in the longer term - if they too are able to participate in the greater diversification of anchovy usage.  Already CF had stated its objective of exploring further development of anchovy for human consumption sometime ago.  Still, in the immediate future, hope the new product finds wide acceptance not only in Peru but in other markets around the world too.  Also, with the  limited anchovy biomass around the waters of Peru over the last two yrs, exacerbated by the warming of the oceans a few mths back, one shd not hope for significant improvement in CF s catch, and hence improed profitability, in the short term.

EZ3626      ( Date: 31-Aug-2014 23:38) Posted:

Found this article interesting .... It is evolving, innovating

Aug. 29, 11.02am: Anchovy, from fishmeal to ' deluxe' product

Peru&rsquo s anchovy fishery is so huge that it can supply the largest fishmeal industry in the world and, stil, there is enough resource for the human consumption division.

Some Peruvian producers, such as Pesquera Diamante, are already supplying domestic market with canned anchovy in different sauces, and others, like Tri Marine' s Conservera de las Americas, are pinning their hopes on exports of canned anchovy.

But there is still room to explore anchovy' s potential.

The country' s Ministry of Production, Produce, has developed a new gourmet product: " deluxe" canned anchovy.

Wrapped in slick packaging and marinated in oriental sauces, the cans are expected to become a popular product among Peruvians, simply because they taste " delicious" , Melva Pazos, coordinator at Produce' s researching division for human consumption products, told Undercurrent News.

Premium canned anchovy has been presented to seafood processors at Expoalimentaria and there are already several companies that have shown interest in the product, Pazos said.

According to SS' announcement (extracted in blue below), the placement is to  finance the group' s future expansion plans in Singapore,    which include the acquisition of properties for new retail outlets.  With many companies taking strategic decisions to go asset-light, the strategic mistake for SS may be trying to be  the contrarian by purchasing its own premises required for operations.

The Placement will allow the Company to raise gross proceeds of approximately

S$80,400,000. Subject to relevant laws and regulations, the Group intends to use the gross

proceeds as follows:

(a) 98% to 99% of the gross proceeds will be used to finance the future expansion plans of

the Group in Singapore and

(b) 1% to 2% of the gross proceeds will be used to pay the estimated fees and expenses,

including professional fees and expenses, incurred or to be incurred by the Group in

connection with the Placement.

yingli      ( Date: 04-Sep-2014 22:23) Posted:

Nothing wrong with placement which  is only to support SS' s China' s ambition.

The decision to expand into China will prove to be a fatal one.

SS is competing as cost leader in Singapore and has yet to gain an upper hand against its main rival, NTUC. If the investment in China failed, it would incur huge cost for SS and possibly affect SS competitive position in the home market. A very risky move indeed.

With a fragmented market served mainly by family owned provision shops, Malaysia seems to be a better choice for SS.

ash902      ( Date: 04-Sep-2014 22:14) Posted:

why is placement a wrong move?
