Can' t wait to see DBS Q3 report........China (and HK) exposure > S$100B, property cooling measure (~47% of total loans) now this PR incident......tsk tsk......I will be paying close attention to your Deposit, your source of cheap funding for many of your loans, your new loans growth, your Credit Cards, etcs..........

That person likely committed an offence under Singapore law, in fact its a crime to do the same thing to his native country flag in his native counrty. On top of that, he display a lack of sensitivity and low EQ in this incident. How is this person still qualified to stay where he is in DBS? By doing what DBS did, counselled that person only, what is DBS telling its Customers?

DBS like large corp w over 10,000 employees. Further he has alrdy admitted his mistake n withdrawn his comment .
DBS has also address this n spoken to this employee. ( like invest share mentioned ...it can happen to any company )
More so , due to this incident I will do more bz w DBS as it shows that they handle cases fairly and calmly.
U have 10000 employees, can u assure they are all good and never change over time of employment ....LOL
ANyway , this incident is no incident certainly on the corp which employs him. LOL

My question is....after reading all the internet backlash on the incident on the internet and DBS own facebook, would you still want to do biz with DBS? Especially if you can get comparable deals from other local banks?

Trade war and trade talk which is a 50-50 thing. Add the PR disaster that DBS is in now.....the balance have been tilted in favor of the shorts. IMO, DYODD.

I am no longer sidelined.....decided to hammer DBS after reading the Avijit Das Patnaik incident and how DBS is handling things. Personally, I am very, very disappointed and embarressed with DBS. ..............................DYODD.

That someone took out the 200+ lots at 25 and push DBS all the way down to 24.91......that takes some resources. With the looming trade talk and 16b tariff (which might or might not get implemented on 23 Aug), ....I am currently sidelined.......and of course the potential PR nightmare for DBS due to one of its employee' s less than smart or sensitive posting on facebook. If this is the level of emotional sensitivity they have in their employee, I will think twice before doing biz with them. IMO, DYODD

While I am not going to cancel my accounts with them, I am certainly not going to give them any new biz, freezing my DBS, POSB credit cards and transferring money out.

The move up or down will not be in a straight line......it will be peppered with technical bounces and bounces triggered by impactful news. But, the general movement now is still down (on Trade war and property cooling measures), but I do see potential for a meaningful rebounce (up) if we have pleasant surprises from the 16B tariff effective date and the mid level Trade Talk. Huat Ah! Celebration tonight!

It took awhile, but finally, I suspect, the message/pressure have been past throught the grapevine to the DBS share buy back team........

whichever way i see this, the team overseeing these buy backs are likely to get " buttered" during the next AGM........ the 2 top question to be ask are.......
1) Why buy back now when you could have buy back at lower prices?
2) Is there no better use for the million$ you spend on buy back of shares?.......S$76millions and counting..........and opportunity cost of ~S$4.5 million (at 6% interest) and counting...this plus the likely weakening DBS share price.
