Singapore Changi Airport' s passenger volumes are expected to reach pre-pandemic levels in 2024,
the country' s transport ministry said in a written response to parliamentary questions.

Monthly passenger traffic recovered to around 90% of pre-Covid levels in December.
For the full year of 2023, the airport handled 58.9 million passenger movements, or 86% of traffic recorded in 2019, the ministry said.

To meet longer-term demand for air travel, the financial hub plans to start construction of a fifth airport terminal next year
and expects it to be operational in mid-2030s, it added.

" Higher dividends do not constrain our growth. We have got the reverse problem because we have too much capital with CET-1 at 14.6%.
With the Basel IV regime, we have even more excess capital during the transitional period.
Frankly, we have enough to do more M& A if we want and still have the capacity to grow." Gupta says.

" We should be able to sustain the 24-cent per year increase for two to three years. It is not just payout from earnings for the year,
but there is also an element of a capital return from the stock position as we currently have a CAR ratio that is quite high," she adds.

" We will continue to maintain a baseline $0.24 annual dividend per share increment over the enlarged post-bonus share base.
I think we could also do special dividends or other forms of capital returns. We will have greater clarity in the middle of the year
when there is better line of sight on interest rates and, hopefully, when the technology issues are behind us," Gupta indicates.

JANUARY 2024 OPERATING RESULTS
In January 2024, the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group' s passenger capacity increased 16.5% from a year before, while passenger traffic grew 14.4%,
lagging capacity growth partly due to the shift in the Lunar New Year to February 2024.
Consequently, Group passenger load factor (PLF) came in at 85.3%, 1.6 percentage points lower year-on-year with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 84.2% and 89.4% respectively.
The two airlines carried a combined 3.2 million passengers during the month, 23.1% higher than a year before.
Cargo loads grew 19.7% year-on-year due to stronger e-commerce demand and a growth in shipments ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays.
This outpaced the capacity injection of 13.8% from a year before. Consequently, load factors were 2.7 percentage points higher at 54.5%.
At the end of January 2024, the Group' s passenger network covered 121 destinations in 35 countries and territories.
SIA served 76 destinations, while Scoot served 67 destinations. The cargo network comprised 126 destinations in 37 countries and territories.

DBS Group Holdings (DBS) reported a 4Q23 net profit of S$2,269m, a decrease of 3% year-on-year, meeting expectations. The bank' s net interest margin (NIM) saw a slight reduction, and net interest income grew by 4.7%.

Despite slower loan growth and increased expenses due to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitments, DBS managed stable asset quality and low credit costs. The dividend per share for 4Q23 was increased to 54 S cents, with expectations to maintain this rate into 2024 following a 1-for-10 bonus issue.

Management plans to continue evaluating the bank&rsquo s capital structure to possibly return more surplus capital to shareholders. Looking ahead to 2024, DBS expects a slight decrease in NIM, stable net interest income, and double-digit growth in fee income, particularly from wealth management and cards, partly due to the full-year impact of Citibank Taiwan' s consolidation.

China and Singapore reach agreement on visa-free entry

China and Singapore have reached an agreement on granting visa-free entry for citizens from respective countries for stays up to 30 days, starting on Feb 9.

The policy applies to holders of ordinary passports traveling for purposes of tourism and visiting family members or business, according to the agreement signed between government representatives in Beijing on Thursday.
