Observers noting - Oxley duo' s substantial stakes have speculated, they could be eyeing IHC' s property assets.

Today, IHC owns 12 freehold nursing facilities in Japan which it rents out for income. It also owns two office buildings in Melbourne, Australia, that it originally planned to sell but recently had said that it planned to inject them, together with an Australian medical centre, into a private Reit instead. It is also developing properties in Malaysia and China.

IHC closed on Wednesday at 8.3 cents, down 0.5 cent, while HMC gained 0.1 cent to close at 3.5 cents.

U are right. I' d never bothered abt the way they say they are subsidising lower income people cos I' d always thought where' s the $$$$ coming from in the first place - it' s from the poor tax payers themselves. So, it' s good that u' ve highlighted this. Anyway, it goes to show that again it' s the same pool of $$$ that goes round n round. So, they make as if the penalty is sufficiently deterrent. But they keep giving back $$$ to them - regular fare increase (then take from the penalties, at least partly, to ' subsidise' the poor so people won' t feel so angry), buying them buses, topping salary increments, etc. Like that smrt no need to bother too much abt penalty, even though headline figures look like hitting them hard.

21 Jan 2015 News Releases

1. To help needy families cope with the fare adjustment, the Government will draw down $7.5 million from the Public Transport Fund to fund 250,000 Public Transport Vouchers.

2. Similar to last year, each Public Transport Voucher is worth $30 and can be used to purchase or top up fare cards, or buy monthly concession passes. The Public Transport Vouchers will be distributed throughout the year.

3. Application for Public Transport Vouchers will start from 16 March 2015. Households can make enquiries or applications at their local community centres/clubs. The People&rsquo s Association will work with the Citizens' Consultative Committees (CCCs) to help send out the vouchers from mid-April.

4. Upon successful application, each household will receive one Public Transport Voucher. However, the CCCs may exercise discretion to subsequently provide additional Public Transport Vouchers to households whom they deem need more help.

5. Residents can approach their grassroots leaders or make enquiries at their local community centres/clubs.
