India records more than 300,000 new COVID-19 cases for 6th consecutive day



India' s new COVID-19 cases stayed above 300,000 for a sixth consecutive day on Tuesday (Apr 27), while its armed forces pledged urgent medical aid to help battle the staggering spike in infections.

Over the past 24 hours, India recorded 323,144 new cases, below Monday' s worldwide peak of 352,991, with overrun hospitals continuing to turn away patients due to a shortage of beds and oxygen supplies.
 

It reported 2,771 new deaths, but health experts believe the tally runs significantly higher.

" Please note that a huge fall in daily cases ... is largely due to a heavy fall in testing. This should not be taken as an indication of falling cases, rather a matter of missing out on too many positive cases!" Rijo M John, a professor and health economist at the Indian Institute of Management in the southern state of Kerala, said in a post on Twitter.

On Monday, the country reported 2,812 more deaths, with roughly 117 Indians succumbing to the disease every hour -  and experts say even those figures are probably an undercount.

The White House said the US  is working around the clock to deploy testing kits, ventilators and personal protective equipment, and it would seek to provide oxygen as well. It said it would also make available sources of raw materials urgently needed to manufacture Covishield, the AstraZeneca vaccine made by the Serum Institute of India.

Thailand reports another daily RECORD of 15 COVID-19 deaths


Thailand on Tuesday (Apr 27) reported 15 new COVID-19 deaths, another daily record in a fast-rising third wave that has prompted new shutdowns in Bangkok and other areas. The Health Ministry also reported 2,179 new daily infections.

Like I said, look out for Q1 EPS, anywhere 7 to 8 cents is hold. 6.5 and below is Bad but not that bad.

7 to 7.5: HOLD and Moon
Above 7.5: ALL IN

1Q is Mar 2021, but kongsi not required to announce. Only reqd to announce half yearly result, not quarterly.
Last yr they did voluntarily make an announcement for 1Q, but this year is still hush hush, even tho many shareholders, esp thru Greg, have requested them to.
Anyway just stay tuned if interested.laugh

BBs may have distributed their cargoes at 110-115 during the last few days.
If so, their LH to RH kakias may be pushing down. Now already at 110, and likely go below later today.
And by 2molo onwards dropping more and more twds 100 and then below for their BBs to collect at the cheap.
Even kongsi, who knows the price is very undervalued, also don dare buyback to challenge the LH to RH kakias.
The local mkt is unofficially regulated by the BBs and their team of kakias. Otherwise how to justify a counter with eps of 33c, but selling at 110. What a joke!sad

A total of $23 million is being pumped into research projects to boost Singapore' s food security. The 12 projects will look into how rearing fish and growing vegetables can be improved.

Eight of the proposals are related to aquaculture, while four aim to study how vegetables can be grown more efficiently in an urban setting, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said in a statement on Monday (April 26).

SFA chief executive Lim Kok Thai said the world is facing challenges impacting global food security.

 

These include climate change, growing populations, and decreasing land available for agricultural use.

" Research and development hold  the key to the future of food," said Mr Lim.

" The awarded proposals have shown both innovation and practicality for application and I have every confidence that the outcomes of their research will bring us closer towards a more resilient, sustainable and vibrant agri-tech sector in Singapore."

I see growth potential in Oceanus. Food tech for sustainability. Like someone said before, if in 10 years this can be a $1 stock, then its good to see its potential early and ride the growth. Growth maybe bumpy but worth it in my opinion. Dyodd.

India COVID-19 cases sets new global record for 5th straight day, Deaths too!



India on Monday (Apr 26) set a global record for a rise in daily coronavirus cases for a fifth straight day, while deaths from COVID-19 also jumped by an all-time high over the last 24 hours.

With 352,991 new cases, India' s total caseload has crossed 17 million. Deaths rose by a record 2,812 to reach a total of 195,123,  with overcrowded hospitals in Delhi and elsewhere turning away patients after running out of supplies of medical oxygen and beds.

Their profits will be unprecedented for this year 2021.  Should Covid persists uncontrollably and vaccination strategy does not help, the huge profits will continue into 2022 and 2023 which is likely the case now .. DYODD.
