I am no tax consultant, but you don't pay taxes trading stocks in itself.  You pay taxes only when you make profits on stocks traded (bought and sold)  calculated at end of the year. The taxes that you are liable will be based on personal income for the year.  That's say you made $24000 a year on trading stocks, and your other income working or passive is say $20,000, then your total income for the year will be $44,000.00.  What you will pay in taxes will be your chargeable income after deducting all your expenses that has been used for creating the income.  Dividends are also income but if taxed at source would be considered as  taxes paid.   I am assuming that you are trading on a personal basis and not on a corporate account.  You can visit the IRAS website for info.

Do we have to pay income tax for earning from the stock market?
The IRAS website is not very clear, they said frequent trader, big volume or something need to pay.
If my total holding in shares in about $300K, trade weekly. Am I liable for tax on return in shares??

Previously there was a  name listed in SGX  as Hotel Marco Polo and then delisted after being privatised.  Is this the same one?

STI always poor showing.  Any good  leads coming from outside will not cause a quick reaction, as always. A bad news outside will.  Now the world stage is still harping unnecessarily on some financial issues for  too long.  Things to watch will be an escalating conflict with Iran and if it occurs will it spike the world  stock markets? Think so..

This is like what i have repeated at least twice in so many ways.  Don't play Singapore stocks as you will play into their hands.  Big man, big play, big bonus for mr. big.  Payroll coming, big hong pow for all directors (suicide bombers)  who are employees of Sh******ts syndication.  Small market, can die fast if you are not wellof at least to stand losses.

Dao Gao i che, mo gao it chan.  The righteousness can go up one foot, the evilness could go higher by ten.
I believe there are many BBs who have a conscience and they want their families to follow good ways than bad, because training them to be bad will don't know if they will one day land in jail and suffer.
But there are alot money greedy people around, can do anything to make money regardless of what action.  They say by hook or by crook (crookedness).
A point ot note, though, it is easier to lose money than to make money, and same applies for a listed company.

| Whatever it is, there is no future playing the stock market in Singapore.  Player must know that this is a small market and can be fully controlled by some hidden faces. Furtermore the company directors are forbidden to trade in their own shares whether to support or to kill their prices.  (Something call to mind about the suicide bombers? Yes, suicide bombers kill themselves in order to kill others).  A small market makes shorting via share borrowings very easy to down a market. Also shortists can alway put the directors under their pay roll.  This is an important hidden secret that players must be aware of its likelihood.  So I play the sg market very little.  Only when can win. |

Never forget that Sg market is always a laggard market.  Can watch cannot buy.  Of course shorting is the only profitable trades since the nature of downward movements can only allow a profit in shorting. Shortists are always making money in Sg market. All prices are nearly half of their highs.

DOW can go to 15000, and can come down to  8000.  Both targets are matter of time.  For shortists, they can short until 15000 and wait for it to drop to 8000 to cover.  But time is the factor. CE. I trade on stocks and not on indices. So far I am winning.

The greater fools are those who play the Singapore  stock market on a daily basis.  I don't believe that they are making money.  Show me that you do, if you are a true bred independent trader.  Proof...

The actual fools that I can think of are the public listed directors.  They are born fools though they may hold some papers when they were young bookworms.  Look at how their companies's shares are played left and right, shaving off their investments most of the time. They don't feel shameful, thats all.  They can't do a thing, actually unlike some of our sifus here.
CE.. I don't play much in sg markets. LOL. |

| Just to clarify.  I trade mostly with outside brokerages.  They are far far cheaper to do business with.  An example. If I make US$1000 in trading, I pocket at least US$990, but if I played Singapore brokerages, for the same deal I only make US$600, the US$400 goes to the Sg brokerage commission.  See? That's the reason why I trade little with sg brokerage firms.  Last night my Bank of America (BAC) made me US$5K for 5 lots, and I can pocket US$4.98K.  If I did it with Singapore brokers, my gain would only be US$2K.  I suggest you look abroad, too. |

Ying Yang pulling forces. DOW 8000 a possibility and DOW 15000 might come to pass!  Only heard of Prophets of Doom but never heard of Prophets of Blessedness? (Prophets of Bliss?).  I wd love the Yang-force Prophets begin to say good things this year and make it a reality for longists. Shortists can continue to short as the market rises, and wait for the 8000 to buy back. LOL.
