Sembcorp Marine bags two offshore platform projects valued over S$550 million

The Group will take on fabrication and offshore brownfield integration works for two well-head platforms, under North Oil Company&rsquo s Gallaf Batch 2 Project to maintain production capacity at Al Shaheen oil field in Qatar

Separately, Sembcorp Marine will also fabricate certain platforms and related bridges for the Tyra field redevelopment project in Danish North Sea

Singapore, Dec 26, 2019: Sembcorp Marine Offshore Platforms Pte. Ltd. has clinched two offshore platform contracts worth over S$550 million that support redevelopment efforts at the Al Shaheen and Tyra fields, located respectively in Qatari waters and the Danish North Sea.

Sembcorp Marine will team up with customer North Oil Company (NOC) to fabricate two well-head platforms for the NOC-operated Al Shaheen oil field, which will be bridge-linked to the field&rsquo s existing facilities.

Mr Lim was a Keppel Corporation Scholarship recipient and prior to joining Dyna-Mac, he has held various Senior Management positions in Keppel Offshore and Marine (KOM) group.

Mr Lim obtained his Masters of Engineering degree from the National University of Singapore and he is also a member of the Institution of Engineers, Singapore, Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers, Singapore and Singapore Institute of Directors.

that' s the thing i don' t understand. keppel corp is trying to divest and have ear-marked area segment to release. one of it is the oil and gas.
why would they acquire dyna-mac ? that will be adding.
since temasek and kc owned almost 50%, it is more likely that they will use dyna-mac to acquire kc og
all they need to convince is late estate of lim tze jong. the rest of the 9% will have to follow
dyna-mac with market cap of $102m is like a snake trying to swallow an elephant .....
so too many if .....
of course you are right to say that keppel corp is selling og away but can dyna-mac makan og easily more than $102m .... they will likely have to raise money to acquire og. nonetheless dyna-mac is a good vehicle to carry out the task - 3 combined already 90%
but not good for minority shareholders imho

the engagement is fierce. what better said is true, not about the silly report but rather something fishy is going on .... no doubt you can say no price movement. accumulation/distribution is happening now

Essentially, UOB KH/s report is saying thatSMMt should be trading at 0.64x book value or 12+ cents per share.

So when SMM is trading at 12 cents in November, they say the price is just about right, so HOLD.

When SMM is trading at 17 cents last week, it is much higher than their calculated fair value, so SELL.

They are entitled to have their opinion, just like anyone else. The only issue of couse is that the anayst did not get the Book value per share right.

But so be it. The last 2 days selling has got nothing to do with the UOB KH report.

maybe focused entity is good for both bah. good time scm bring in much benefits.
in the past conglomerate is the way to go, diversification.
under the new it maybe a better way to go.
having said that nobody can quite say it is smooth sailing as sci is trying to list in india. certainly lots to learn and navigate.
let' s hope that all is good.

i don' t understand. can someone help🙏
The Company is engaged in the engineering, fabrication and construction of offshore floating production storage offloading (FPSO) and floating storage offloading (FSO) topside modules, as well as onshore plants and other sub-sea products for the oil and gas industries.
market cap is about $102m. estate of lim tze jong 40.83% temasek 25%. combined is almost 70%
how it relates or got to do with keppel corp oil and gas ??? you means to acquire it ???
how to huat ???
wouldn' t buying kc better than having dyna-mac ??? just wondering

the holding on the price and keeping it in check, is like in anticipation of announcement.
just like keppel corp for the longest time the wing of the price is kept. today when the news is released it went above 5.20, touching 5.40 soon

The group is actively tendering for more than 10 projects, especially in the greener energy market segments such as renewable energy and gas solutions. It added that a similar number of tenders are also in progress for the process solutions segment.

Sembmarine said it is executing a total of S$1.78 billion of significant projects. Its repairs and upgrades business is also undertaking about S$330 million of ongoing jobs and new orders secured during the quarter.

Delivery dates for most of its existing projects have been rescheduled by between three to 12 months, but there has been no cancellation of any existing project to date, Sembmarine noted.

It said the completion of the group' s S$2.1 billion rights issue has strengthened its liquidity position and balance sheet. It is now focused on executing its projects and securing new orders.

Fresh reporrt from the oven (Offshore oil and gas is going to boom right now)

To date, according to Rystad Energy, deepwater oil is the second-cheapest in the world, after onshore Middle Eastern oil, whose breakeven price is around $30 per barrel. The average breakeven price for deepwater oil is $43 a barrel.

This is good news because most of the untapped oil reserves in the world are located offshore, and despite pessimistic demand forecast, many believe the world will continue needing dozens of millions of barrels of oil in the decades to come. Many, if not most, of these dozens of millions of barrels will be coming from offshore fields.

Exxon is not the only one betting strongly on offshore exploration amid the pandemic. Brazil&rsquo s Petrobras is planning a focus on deepwater exploration and production for the next five years, the company said last month, when it also announced a downward revision to its spending program for the period.

The Brazilian major said in a filing that it will spend $55 billion over the next five years, down by 27 percent in 2019. Of the total, 84 percent would go towards exploration and production, most of it in the prolific pre-salt zone, which is estimated to hold billions of barrels of undiscovered oil.

abe8888, his view is actually quite positive - banks now see the company in an even more positive light given its stronger balance sheet&mdash although it conceded that its cash flow in 2020 will be affected by the delivery delays [understandable due to covid-19]
its yards are back to full capacity and its repairs & upgrades (R& U) business is busy,
new order flow may only resurface in the first half of 2021 at the earliest

haha ... anyway everyone is winding down toward end of the year.
