Waiting to grill them at the coming AGM. While it is correct to keep monitise the properties, keep so much cash for what? Any concrete plan to use the cash or not? If want to monitise all the way, what' s the plan for SingPost Centre? Dare not sell in order to have some recurring income? If no clue please close shop, delist and return money to shareholders.

From 22 ships to 76 ships as per above link and I also vaugely recall reading somewhere the total ships ownership is now 82. I will post the source if I can find it but really, it is not important as we can wait for 3Q update or FY25 results. Patience is key.

Sharing this useful piece especially read it with the pre listing anncounement of selling 4 vessels for $180m and building another 8 vessels. Key points: It seems that YZJM is building ships in advance with joint venture partners and the ships, either under construction or already built, can be sold to 3rd party for profits. If the vessels are not sold immediately, it can be used for chartering, leasing and any other purpose the company deem fit. This is like Reit with maritime assets and this is also like shipyard without physical shipyard, as cleverly pointed out by Pastime in one of his posts. From the article, we can also tell that the delivery of the vessels are already scheduled till as far as 2028. This shipyardless model is highly scalable, with physical shipyard, there is a constrain of how many ships you can build within a certain time period, with this shipyardless model, YZJM and its JV partners can simply look at all the available shipyards and place the orders accordingly. No wonder the former YZJF' s share price keep going up since March 2025. On hindsight, it was not just due to spin off news alone that first came to light in late Feb 25, it is because this business model seems highly scalable. I may try to add a bit more tomorrow if the price doesn' t open gap up. Let' s see!

By Irene Ang in Singapore

Chinese shipbuilding veteran Ren Yuanlin is turning his investment house&rsquo s focus from property to ship owning, inking a string of tanker new buildings worth close to $800m. Ren-led Yangzijiang Financial Holding is said to have raised its tanker newbuilding tally to 22 with fresh contracts at four Chinese shipyards and is poised to book four handysize bulkers.  The company&rsquo s order spree, some for its own account but more than half in partnerships with foreign shipping companies, follows the investment company&rsquo s strategy to reduce exposure to China&rsquo s, articularly to the troubled real estate sector to focus on high-growth segments. Yangzijiang Financial believes maritime will continue to present attractive investment opportunities, driven by stricter environmental regulations and increasing demand for alternative financing solutions.

Ren was the founder and former executive chairman of China&rsquo s largest privately owned shipyard, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, and is widely recognised for the yard&rsquo s development from building feeder ships to a portfolio of gas carriers, VLOCs, mega-size container ships and tankers. One shipping player said: &ldquo Yangzijiang Financial is tapping Ren&rsquo s knowledge of shipbuilding and the shipping industry to diversify into the ship owning arena.&rdquo According to shipbuilding sources, on its own account, Yangzijiang Financial has four 50,000-dwt product carriers under construction at Jingjiang Nanyang Shipbuilding and is said to have returned to the yard to secure up to six further vessels. The order involves four firm vessels plus an option for two additional ships. The deal brings the number of firm MR tankers Yangzijiang Financial has inked at the yard to eight. Its four under-construction new buildings were penned early this year. Sources said the firm newbuildings are fully owned by the company but it is open to other entities taking stakes.

The carriers, each featuring 12 cargo and two slop tanks, were said to cost less than $45m each. The yard is scheduled to deliver the firm vessels between 2026 and 2028. The MR tankers will be built to meet the International Maritime Organization&rsquo s Tier III emissions standards for NOx and Phase 3 of the Energy Efficiency Design Index regulation. But more than half of the newbuildings were ordered in partnership with foreign shipping companies. Yangzijiang Financial has teamed up with an unnamed UK-based shipowner to order four 50,000-dwt product/chemical tankers with IMO II classification at Penglai Zhongbai Jinglu Ship Industry. Sources said these ships are pricier than the MRs at Jingjiang Nanyang, as each newbuilding features 18 cargo tanks. They put the price at close to $50m apiece. Jinglu is scheduled to deliver the quartet between 2026 and 2027.

Yangzijiang Financial is also working with a Singapore-based shipping company to order a series of stainless steel chemical tankers at the reborn New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding. The order was for a quartet of 25,900-dwt vessels, costing about $50m each. New Jiangzhou is slated to deliver them in 2026 and 2027. Teaming up with another Hong Kong-based shipping company, Yangzijiang Financial has commissioned Wuhu Shipyard to construct four 18,500-dwt MarineLine-coated chemical tankers costing a total of about $132m, or $33m apiece. Wuhu is scheduled to deliver them at the end of this year and 2026. One shipping source said the investment company inked the Wuhu contract some time ago but the order went unreported. Sources said Yangzijiang Financial&rsquo s tanker order spree was partly driven by the profits made from the sale of two MR newbuildings last year. It sold the 50,000-dwt product carriers to Greek company Thenamaris for $53m apiece, pocketing a profit of at least $12m per ship. The Chinese investment house ordered the duo in 2023 at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding, paying slightly more than $40m each. Thenamaris recently took delivery of the product carriers Seaexplorer and Seamerit.

Now, Yangzijiang Financial is looking beyond tankers, with shipping sources indicating the company is set to extend its order spree to bulkers. The company is working with a Hong Kong-based company to order four 40,000-dwt handysizes costing about $30m per ship. TradeWinds is told that Yangzijiang Financial and its partner have not decided on the shipyard. Last month, the Singapore-listed investment company reported an increase of 51% to SGD 304.6m ($229m) in its earnings for the 2024 financial year. Yangzijiang Financial said its maritime fund assets had grown 150% since the end of 2023, and income from maritime fund assets increased by nearly 1.5 times year on year to SGD 57.2m ($43m). It has closed deals involving 66 vessels since inception. Yangzijiang Financial said it has steadily expanded its maritime portfolio, which includes vessel ownership, finance leases, loan services and joint ventures in ship chartering, brokerage and import-export activities. Meanwhile, the company&rsquo s debt investment business in China declined by 24% to SDG 1.2bn.

Big buyer(s) and seller(s) transact marriage deal at $0.67, a total of about 19.32m which counted for about 40% of total trade volume. No issue. For such a big amount I guess the seller(s) must give some discount, as can be seen from the absent of trade done at between $0.675 to $0.680. US markets again leading the drop and the negative sentiments may continue to next week affecting the rest of the world markets. Long holders' hands may get itchy and if opportunities arise, I may actually look to accumulate YZJF and some of my other holdings. For YZJM, I want to add only at placement price which I honestly think may not happen unless world recession. By then, many things to buy also if capital is not an issue. When YZJF spun off from YZJS, it was almost one way street down from the start as far as the share price is concerned and the only support mechanism then was SBB. This time round, someone is buying big at 12% above placement price. We do not know the party(ies) that involved in this big marriage deal but given that the price was transacted well above placement price, I somehow think it is a good sign because while seller(s) can sell for many reasons below market price, the buyer(s) definitely think the price will go beyond the purchasse price going forward. For example, China Sunsine founder sell 42m shares in a marriage deal early this month for $0.66 a piece when the share price was constantly traded at well above $0.70 and even hit $0.80 before the sale. While all transactions can or may sent some " signals" to the wider market, marriage deal usually will disregard market price as long as party(ies) involved agreed with the price. Perhaps the buyer(s) would have participated in the private placement to begin with but the placement size was so small. Yes, I do hope there is a rights issue. Let' s see!

Pre spin off enlarged EPS of $0.0866 for FY24 and YZJM contributed to about 60%, i.e., $0.0515 per share. To live up to expectation, YZJM&rsquo s share of EPS should increase by at least 50%. For context, under pre spin off YZJF, the maritime segment&rsquo s income for FY24 was 57.4m but in 1H25, it was already 40.1m. So for simplicity sake, let&rsquo s say EPS go up 30% from $0.515 that will be $0.067 and payout based on 40% will be $0.268 and give a yield of 4% based on current price. If the income hit 100m then everything almost 2.5x but I do not want to be too sanguine. A Q3 update will help with assessment but it seems that YZJF and YZJM don&rsquo t like to conduct voluntary updates. Let&rsquo s see.

Added but at higher price of $0.495 yesterday, as the price didn' t want to come back to $0.48. Post spin theoritical EPS is $0.0351 for FY2024, this is about 40% of the enlarged group' s EPS of $0.0866 before the spin off. By know what is clear is that YZJM growth leap and bounce and that' s the very reason for the spin off so I am not too excited on how much YZJF, on its own, can grow its EPS. Though if Shanshan deal go through, it will not bring immediate returns but I still think it was a missed opportunity. Look at Nam Cheong, continues with its same businesses of building ships but after restructuring, it became profitable and share price surged from $0.10 range to $0.90 now, all in slightly more than a year. Shanshan deal if go thru and restructure successfully would sure bring tremendous profit to YZJF as they are the world biggest lithum battery anode producer but it is all water under the bridge now. So a very conservative of projection would be that YZJF' s EPS go up by 10% to 25%, bringing stand alone FY25' s EPS to the range of $0.03861 to $0.04388. In term of dividend, shareholders would get about $0.0155 to $0.0176 per share based on 40% EPS payout. This, if come to fruition would be totally acceptable as it will yield between 3.1% to 3.5% based on current price. Cautiously optimistic as usual and would continue to stand by dry powder in case of wild market behaviours. Added YZJM too and would continue to do so slowly.

NAV $0.54. Profitable company. Not debt. Holding high cash. Policy of 40% EPS payout as dividend. Hope to add a bit more if price stay in current levels $0.48 - $0.485 or get sell down to $0.475 and below.

First day performance not bad. Credit to SGX for demanding instituitional and or accredited investors on board as 1 of the conditions for the spin off. The condition was met by private placement and thru this, there was some sort of price recovery prior to the listing. It turn out that market respect $0.60 placement price and in fact closed almost 12% above the PP discovery price of $0.60. The heavy volume was also an indication of investors' interest. Those who dare and loaded just before XE are winners so far, as the combined post spin price is well above pre spin off price of $1.06. Definitely more to come for YZJM.

You have forgotten to mention your goodself, ever modest! You could be looking at above 10m if either one of the YZJF or YZJM hit $1 and confirm case if both hit. Well indeed we have come a long way and now I am excited by both F & M holding high cash, net cash and no debt. Further catalyst could be afoot especially for YZJM, as they have sold 4 vessels and embarking to make another 8. Notice that 4 vessels sold for $180m but no mention of capital committed for the 8 new build, other than that YZJM will hold ' major equities' in the deal. Presuming the capitals required for this new deal is 2x of US$180m, taken together with the last published cash in hand of US$360m, which mean net cash left would be less than US$200m and my wish of a rights issue could be on the card! This is more likely if YZJM already have other deals lining up. Therefore, I really wish they provide 3Q update, both the F & M, so that we can have a better analysis but the management know best.

There is no such thing as " free" YFH price, unless you are referring to back then on 20 Apr 2022 when YZJSB spinned off YFH. Even then YFH was not free because it' s value was carved out from YZJSB balance sheet.

You seems confused with the various price definitions of YMD. (1) The latest NAV of YMD was ~0.585 and (2) a " token" tranche of shares were placed out at 0.60. (3) YMD opened today at 0.66 and is now treading at (4) ~0.69.

(1) 0.585 is the vanilla book value price (based on the latest pre split overall YFH NAV 1.11)
(2) 0.60 is the sneak preview price before sales launch
(3) 0.66 is the initial FOMO market value interest when the crowd cheong in to buy.
(4) 0.69 is the real market value you are seeing now.

With no known historical PE matrix to reference yet due to YMD infancy, you could just simply take the BV 0.585 as the reference valuation price, or the theoretical Day 1 starting price today, which is aligned to the pre split YFH NAV 1.11.

From the 0.585 anchor, and now at 0.69, you should be very happy to know that you are now still gaining a 17.9% on your YMD investment.

By the way, for those Super Ultra Long catergory Investors like HVRRVH, pkli899, pastime, nippon72 .. etc who are still standing tall and did not exit regardless all the rollercoaster drama and fear mongering , their legacy YFH shares were all mainly at the average 0.30~0.40+, so yes, YMD is really " free" helicopter money drop down from the sky on them.

Hope the above explanations helps.

Pre spin off ATH is $1.24. Time is on long holders' side. Just collect dividends rather than going for quick gain, at least that' s for me lah. No hard and fast rules.

All right. At market open volume seems disappeared but it wasn' t the case. Normal trading volume. Some were eager to sell down at open, probably hopping over to YZJM or some other reasons but supports showed up at $0.48 and moved even strongly to $0.485. Will just observe first, have some room for accumulation especially if no rights issue afterall for YZJM.

Frozed. Running thru a lot of scenarios before 8YZ listed including sell some YF8 buy more 8YZ and vice versa but only ended up putting in buy q for YF8 at $0.475. No hit so far. Decided to just observe first and do nothing for the moment. Turning attentions to the potential dividend payouts by both YZJ entities. I should have hattrick but sold YZJS long before the 1st spin off. Not going to repeat it this time. Huat to all long holders.

Wasting no time. Use money made money. Recycle capital bigger and bigger. Sold 4 build 8, once built, either sell or charter. This is under Maritime Business. There are 2 other main areas of businesses, i.e, Cash Management Business and Other Non Maritime Investments.

I would have go for $0.65 minimum first day closing price based on NAVs, private placement price and post spin YZJF' s performance so far. However, placement size is too small to attach any meaning. It was done to satisfy SGX as I think SGX wanted a price reference, ideally, with institutionals and accredited investors on board. The PP acheived the goal but the placement size was so small and in effect, carried not much weight. It is difficult to guess the opening price but hopefully pivate placement price plays it intended objective and ' stable' the openning price at $0.60 at least. Let' s see.
