News update on 24 May 2013

Tiger Airways, Asia's leading low cost carrier, brings in valued travel options to Indonesia with its launch of direct service between Hong Kong and Jakarta.

From 25 July 2013, Tiger Airways will fly to the capital of Indonesia four times weekly on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, with an increase to daily flights from September onwards.

" We are excited that Tiger Airways is the first low cost carrier flying direct from Hong Kong to Jakarta, one of Asia's fastest growing economies. Our new service aims to offer best value in travel to both business travellers and Indonesian workers in Hong Kong. The competitive pricing, frequent schedule and value-added services on demand makes Tiger Airways' flight offerings unique and certainly more cost effective," says Kaneswaran Avili, Commercial Director, Tiger Airways Singapore.

Recognized as one of Singapore's most punctual airlines, Tiger Airways has been rapidly expanding its network in Indonesia this year. Domestically within Indonesia, the airline flies between Jakarta and key cities including Bali (Denpasar), Medan, Surabaya, Padang, Pekanbaru and Yogyakarta.

" Popular destinations like Bali are now more accessible via Jakarta to Hong Kong holidaymakers," added Mr Avili.

To celebrate the new service, the Airline is offering an introductory " Hong Kong - Jakarta Return for Free" promotion from 22 May to 29 May 2013. The promotion offers complimentary return (Jakarta to Hong Kong) airfare, excluding taxes, on round trips booked for travel between 25 July 2013 to 29 March 2014. The offer is available on www.tigerairways.com and subject to seat availability.

News Again: Tiger launches flights to New Sun-Sand-Sea destination - BORACAY

SINGAPORE – Starting from 18 July, Tiger Airways will offer flights three times weekly from Singapore to Kalibo, gateway to the getaway destination of Boracay. Best known for its beautiful beaches, sea activities, golfing and cliff diving activities, Boracay has grown in appeal among travellers, garnering over 1.2 million visitors in 2012 alone. It has also witnessed an increasing number of Singaporeans who frequent its beaches over the long weekends.

Currently, visitors to the island generally transit at Manila and Cebu to board a 2-hour and 1- hour domestic flight respectively, before arriving at Kalibo. The new 3.5-hour direct flight to Kalibo, to be operated by Tiger’s associate airline, Southeast Asian Airlines (SEAir), will cut down on transit and travelling time. Travellers will also enjoy savings on airfare as they will now be paying for air passage on one flight instead of two. Tiger Group is the only budget carrier to offer a direct Singapore-Kalibo call.

The new Singapore-Kalibo route demonstrates Tiger Group’s commitment to grow its network presence in the Philippines, which has emerged over the years to become an important market.

“Boracay is one destination that visitors would want to return to time and again for a picturesque sun-sand-sea escapade, and we want to make it easier for our customers to do so by bringing the beaches closer to them and at affordable prices,” said Ms Olive Ramos, Chief Executive Officer of SEAir.

In conjunction with the Singapore-Kalibo route launch, Tiger Airways will be offering promotional fares of $88 between 21 May and 24 May. This fare, which is inclusive of taxes and other charges, is valid for travel from 18 July 2013 through 29 March 2014.
Promotional fares are subject to availability, so to take advantage of this fantastic offer, book now at www.tigerairways.com.

22nd MAY 2013, Tiger Airways from 16JUN13 is launching Singapore Denpasar operation, offering 3 weekly flights. Its affiliated carrier Mandala Airlines already offers daily service on this route.

10th MAY 2013, GE Capital Aviation Services said it has delivered a new leased Airbus A320 aircraft to Tiger Airways Singapore to expand the carrier’s fleet. The aircraft is the first of five scheduled for delivery in 2013 as part of a multiple aircraft purchase-and-leaseback transaction with Tiger Airways Holdings.

A negative analysis feedback from broking house does have an impact on TA. Some still recommend to " SELL" and some say " NEUTRAL" . Those remarks do not bring confirm to TA investors and trigger a  " SELL" , I wonder who is buying?

Straits Times newspaper on 22/5 states that SIA and TA are expanding their services in China. In order for TA to move upwards and prove the broking house wrong, some strong news has to come in. The chart shows that it has to break the 69cts level before going to 71. Yes, 71cts is not a problem. I think the next 3 months, TA will be very busy.

Yes, the other one is down because it did not meet market expect. But TA may not be the same. TA has reported a $45.4 million loss in the 12 months to March 31st compared with $104.3 million a year earlier.

I would like to thank TA for their hard work and performance. Straits Times Newspaper wrote: " The better performance was mainly on the back of more passengers carried and stronger yields. That helped lift turnover to $866.2 million from $612.2 million. The pick-up in passenger numbers also boosted 4Q operating profit to $12.7 million, a turnaround from a $17.2 million loss in the same quarter a year before. There was still a net loss of $15.4 million for the 3 months, down from a loss of $16.4 million while revenue jumped from $161.1 million to $240.6 million for the quarter."

I believe all these profits came from Singapore, India, Australia, Indonesia, Philippines, etc. Do you noticed that TA is slowly making a comeback (U-turn up), each time they made their report.

WELL DONE TA, KEEP IT UP.

The report is out. Do you think TA can fly?

Comment made by one web-site(4-trader.com):

SINGAPORE--Tiger Airways Holdings Ltd. (J7X.SG) Friday reported a loss in the fiscal fourth quarter after taking into account its share of losses from associate airline companies in the Philippines and Indonesia.

The Singapore-listed budget carrier's loss after tax was 15 million Singapore dollars (US$12 million) in the fiscal fourth quarter, a shade narrower than S$16 million in the same period of the previous year.

Revenue in the quarter that ended March 31 climbed 49.4% to S$241 million, Tiger said in an emailed statement. Expenses rose 28% to S$228 million.

The higher revenue was driven by a 38% rise in passenger traffic and a 4.5-percentage-point increase in load factor to 84.6%, the budget airline said.

Tiger reported an operating profit of S$12.7 million in the quarter, a reversal from a loss of S$17.2 million in the same period of the previous year. However, its share of loss in Philippines' associate SEAir amounted to S$7.3 million and it recognized an S$8.1 million loss from its Indonesian associate Mandala Airlines.

Tiger Airways said it will seek to improve its cash flow in the new financial year and add capacity. The airline expects to take delivery of another 10 Airbus A320 aircraft during the financial year, which will bring its fleet strength to 53 aircraft by March 31, 2014.
